Interestng. But I have to ask. What is a full blooded american?

Kind of an oxymoron I guess, unless someone is native american end even they came from asia.

Not to split hairs here - I just meant allamerican, true american, red-white and blue american, yank....whatever.:p

As an immigrant to America, and a naturalized one :eusa_clap I can say a full blooded, all American is a state of mind. Never in the history of mankind has there been such a great and wonderul nation as the United States of America. It is a true honor to live in a nation that affords so much opportunity to so many people. That is why it is absolutely permissable for a person of another culture to write, direct, produce or portray another culture. That is what America is all about; a melting of cultures into one unique and strong American perspective.

OK - but since you mentioned it yourself. I find it kind of stange/pathetic/offending when "whites" play the part of native americans. Which was often so in the movies from the 50s and 60s.

Just one scarry example:

Is it really better on the sliding scale of "accuracy" for, say, a Navajo to be played by a member of the Cherokee tribe rather than a white from a "Saxon" tribe?

In a way isn't it almost as insulting to, in essence, say "well, all you Indians look alike and are culturally interchangeable" as it is to have someone not from a tribe at all play the role?

The various Native American tribes don't think of themselves as interchangeable, why should we?

Right you are Carebear.
I always smile when some swedish, dutch or german actor tries to act like a dane, just because Hollywood thought nobody would know (or care) anyway.

"Hey we have to find some exotic scandinavian type.... And who would hear the differece???" - well 5 million danes would!:)

The Danes just need a powerful lobby and better PR. :D

It's similar to when the Mexicans were complaining that the Puerto Rican, Jennifer Lopez played the role of Selena in the movie of the same name. Or when Chinese complain that Japanese actors play Chinese roles. Then there's Frank Sinatra who played Anglo roles.:D
