I'm slowly purchasing new clothes (shirt, ties, suits) since I'm starting a new career. Most of my old work clothes do not fit so well anymore and also my new job will most likely require business dress.

Here are some cufflinks I picked up on E-bay. I usually wear silk knots but I sure like these better!

I had my eye on a set of evening studs by Krementz that included the elusive waistcoat studs, but the bidding got a little out of hand, at least for my budget.

Actually, if they're solid 14K, the winning bid isn't out of line, these days.

The prices for these full sets have skyrocketed. Krementz mass-produced the stuff; it wasn't high end.


In the late '80s and even early '90s, you could buy an onyx/gold (or mother-of-pearl/white gold) complete 1920s-'30s set for around $50.

Who likes the plain old silver oval when they can have a gold circle with a feasant in the middle or the jade green geisha fans on the wrist.

I have dozens of vintage sets, but I find this pair a bit odd. They're actual sea horses. Most likely there was a matching tie bar to make the set complete.

And they charge outrageous prices for the most boring cufflinks. I don't think I've ever spent more than $20 for a vintage pair. (I've seen them more expensive but I'm just cheap)
