It does look good on those parts but maybe the neckhole can be slimmer? Can't wait to see version 2
Yes the collar gap looks big that time, today I tested again wearing tshirt and higher rise jeans
Looks a bit better, this mockup is really made from very crisp yet flimsy fabrics, very hard to imagine how it would behave in leather, i cant even fold the lapel down since it is so light and yet so stiff like 80gsm photocopy paper , but all in all not so bad, still too narrow shoulder and needs side seam of course, but much better worn over simple tshirt.

Proportion looks good for my body proportion lengthwise.
Here some closer view

As off the rack jacket, i dont mind this, but as mtm I think i will push for neater waist and lower back, and ideal shoulder width

They are busy making beach tent from batik and finished with fringes and tassles on four corners, i think one of the son of the owner order this stuff anually to sell in canada, stuff looks like something from 1001 nights and belly dancer... apparently my jacket has to wait until these tents are all done and shipped before summer in canada starts:(

Definitely a great mock up, it looks good even when unzipped. I love the bold choice of having a bigger collar with a moderate sized lapel. This will surely look better when the sleeve length/shoulders/waist/back gets slimmed down.

It's a size 42, not a 44. The waist is tight, and back is 22 from collar base, every other measurements are nice. It fits like it should for my frame as a 50s jacket, it's short at back, even if I am only 5.9 tall. I prefer 24 or 25 at back on recent leather jackets! Really short here.

Too bad about the short back length but good thing the rest of the jacket is perfect. Maybe stay away from low rise jeans when you wear this bad boy. Pls share fit photos when you can. Thanjs

put it in a black trash bag and leave out in the sun for a day or two. Will help the conditioner penetrate even more.
You are right, it will help. At first the leather was so stiff I would not have even tried to put the jacket on. But that won't make it longer.
With higher waisted IH instead of 501s the fit may be more acceptable.
I found this tag inside a Pocket, maybe the numbers will speak to someone. First Numbers (42) to be related to the size ?

Some (poor quality) fit pics. It feels shorter than it seems, even if it looks normal.
Now that the jacket got some conditioner, I confirm it smells and feels like steerhide.

It looks great on you, trim enough but looks like you can layer up. The back length isn't so noticeable. The jacket could have well been made for you. Congratulations

That number is associated with that Union. There are resources for labels. I never found them useful for dating. I recall the Ralphs-Pugh jackets I own are Union made and labeled.

Another post War Classic. Fueled by returning Veterans this was the Golden Age for the Motorcycle Jacket Ralphs-Pugh had been making Riding jackets Police jackets in the 1930s. This Jacket is late 40s maybe 1950. They had at least one more label after this one. Then nothing.

RP was a proud user of Steerhide from their earliest days. Always keep in mind some of the finest tanneries were in the Area. They would have their choice of the finest leathers from start to finish.

I do have one with this label. It has a very different look, lighter leather, a bit older that your jacket. I have several others that have the "50s" label.

A True piece of MC history.

Thanks. It's short anyway at back. Seller info was misleading : 25in excuding collar…

Thanks for the insight. I really like everything on this MC jacket, except the back length (22,25 in). The lining color has a military feel, the leather is heavy and in great condition. The shape is nice. It's something different from the past.

It feels great.

This one has the wool green wool lining. Has a size 46 tag. Finally one that fits. I will be getting the "other one" conditioned, also size 46.

Hi Terry, the jacket on the left is one you bought on eBay (184733455799) I think, I was Following it some time ago (Vintage Bikers Leather Jacket !940s/50s Hercules Sears Made In California Nice | eBay).
In a video you did this Week you show this jacket and say it's a size 46, which is Strange to me because the eBay seller said it measures roughly 22 inches PtP. Is it this jacket?
I ask you this because if it fits you it would fit me too. Not that I want your jacket (amazing…), but I bought almost the same one on Etsy, it just has quilted lining instead of wool, and is described as a size 42. I hope it will be ok.
And I was wondering if you had sold this jacket to the seller on Etsy, because he has an other one 50s Hercules for sale, in steerhide, that looks to be the one I saw in a TFL thread several months ago, in your hands, was it yours too ?
I think you have touched almost all the vintage jackets on this earth :)

Yes, I bought the jacket in the ebay sale. The seller also had a Green wool lined Hercules. I bought it too. I have not measured them, but both are the largest Hercules MC jackets I have owned. One may have a size 46 tag, I just don't recall.

There is a variety in the Hercules line up. I have owned two Standard red quilt lining Horsehide D pocket jackets. I have not owned any of the Steerhide Made In California jackets.

Here is one I sold and called a 44, thought I don't think it had a size tag. This is the standard 50s Sears Hercules MC jacket. I've owned two of these.

I found the page where you had posted pics, but it was obviously not your jacket (post #94) : https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/sears-motorcylce-jacket-history-1949-1963.101311/page-5
This exact steerhide jacket is now for sale on Etsy.
That's where I found the same one, in horsehide, size 42 too. It does not have the top zipper on sleeves, and it has quilted lining, but it has the stitched cigarette pocket and the shoulder/sleeve shape that I like, not the "cheap" one that is found on later jackets, like seen on the one sz44 you sold.
This is the jacket I bought, it should be there in the upcoming weeks (main zipper replaced and horrible stitching///) :
il_794xN.3085607703_nyf5.jpg

This is the one I prefer with the 1947.
And the steerhide still for sale :
