I've posted these ACMEs before, but it's been a good while since I've had them on my feet. That's probably a good sign that I have far more pairs of boots than I need, but that's not the point...I recently narrowed down the vintage of them. I learned via an instagram contact that this pattern was offered in the 1956/57 ACME catalog. They also came in black, tan, grey, burgundy, and white. Ive seen a black pair before, but never any of the others.

I’ve always loved the look of cowboy boots. These are the boots that I own. They are all Lucchese ropers in baby buffalo leather with a 1 inch slanted roper heel (Lucchese call it a 9 heel), an R toe, and a 12 inch shaft, and a stitched toe bug. They bear all the characteristics of a cowboy boot except for the 1 inch roper heel. I’ve tried walking in boots with higher heels but they are simply not comfortable for me.
Like the OP I’ve always doubted whether I should be wearing these kind of boots because I’m English, and I don’t even live in America. I wear my boots with normal smart trousers and a shirt, but I’ve always been reluctant to wear them everywhere and particularly to work even though the dress code permits it.
I have about 8 pairs of RM Williams Craftsman (it’s a Chelsea style boot made from one piece of leather) boots that I usually wear, but I’ve come to a point where I need to make a decision between RM Williams whole cut Chelsea style boots or this style of Lucchese roper. So can an English man ever wear cowboy boots? I’d appreciate input.
The last picture is of a pair of RM Williams Craftsman boots.

If Americans can wear chelsea boots Brits can wear ropers.
Which model Lucchese are those? I just got my first pair yesterday. Sunset roper in black mad goat. Pretty comfortable so far. Cutting and stitching is.....well, it’s obvious they are hand made. There Is definitely some lack of symmetry.

Those are some nice boots.
I've been looking at the Lucchese ropers all year particularly the Kennedy roper in black and black cherry. My only reservation is that I am quite tall and when I sit down my trousers ride up and hover just below the tops of the ropers. With a boot shaft of "12 or greater this isn't such an issue.

Yes,you can definitely wear cowboy boots. After all, the Yanks modelled cowboy boots fromMexican boots. Anyway, my standard response if someone asks me if I am a cowboy is to look at their footware and ask along the lines of ‘I see you are wearing running shoes, are you an athlete’?

Wear them with confidence and pride knowing you are marching to the beat of your own drummer.

Thought I'd post my sharks from Paul Bond.
I'm having them work on another pair for me with mule ears and spur guard on the heels.

I like about this much to show below my pant leg.

Back when ropers were called tall top house slippers. Reitzel sure knew the lines of a boot!
