There may or may not have been margaritas involved in the purchase of these xxxtra pointy El Presidentes that I picked up on clearance at the Mexican western wear store.
Thanks for posting your story and pics. I'm in the process of getting a pair of natural gator boots and your pics are an inspiration.View attachment 322340 View attachment 322341
Un-dyed caiman.
Shout out and huge thank you to our buddy Che @seabass they were part of his massive collection he's selling off. Helped out a friend AND got some killer boots...a win/win situation.
They are marked El Dorado exclusively for Thieves Market, a southern California western wear chain that bankrupted and closed in the mid 90s. I did a little research on the maker...didnt come up with much except that the patent for the name was not renewed after the insolvency of Thieves Market and in the early 2000s was picked up by the company that makes Dan Post.
I don't know anything about Brannock, but their sizing is probably close to Red Wing or other work boots. Mason makes (or used to) shoes and boots for heavy industry. Way back at one point they had a truck that would come around to the shops and garages and warehouses and sell shoes and boots like the Snap-On tool man does. They're pretty sturdy boots and ought to last you forever, if they fit.Hi all. My first post in this thread. I thought I was more of an engineer boot kinda guy, but I just stumbled on these on eBay and am intrigued. Does anyone know anything about Mason Western boots? Are they any good? Close to Brannock sizing? Thanks!

Love cloth label Justins!
Love those Dale!
Nice find, Cuz! The stitched tops look real good! You don't see 'em like that often. I bet the TLs and the Whites are night and day. Not that the Whites aren't comfortable, because I know they are, but because both of those together probably weigh less than one of the other pair.In the late 70’s to early 80’s, when I was still roaming the boot aisles of western stores, looking for my next pair from the big three, I always passed these by. I didn’t really know anything about packers or their history. More of a novelty to me, they looked too much like the work boots I wore, or so I thought.
A few years ago I got curious about them and started looking for a pair, TL’s specifically. I’ve never seen any Noconas and don’t know if they ever offered any and most of the Justin’s I’ve seen look like lace up ropers. Ended up buying a pair a White’s Hathorn packers some time ago and realized what I’d been missing. After several swings and misses over the years, I finally found a pair that checked all of the boxes. Nothing on these boots to identify them as TL’s other than the heel caps and the toe bug. Model and size printings are TL like. Shrunken shoulder and calf, 13” tall with a 2” heel.

Haha! It's a strange world these days, when good boots are cheaper than a box of ammo! Nice find!
