Those look good. Frye makes a pretty quality boot. They've been around since the civil war, so I guess they ought to have it down by now.

I haven't kept up on this thread, some mighty fine boots have been posted! Those wood grain Rocketbusters are cool!
I just grabbed a pair of Tony Lamas off ebay, don't know the vintage, but I think pretty late. I will post more when they arrive.

I've gotten laughed at for this idea, but I'm wondering if some day in a magical future I could get a pair of custom western-style boots made with a flat, flexible sole. I've got a heel problem and can only comfortably wear "barefoot" shoes. Giving up my beloved cowgirl boots was the hardest part of the transition! Anyway...I'm enjoying living vicariously through all these boot photos.

Crepe soles are available for cowboy boots and I’ve read of custom makers using them for folks with problem feet. Perhaps that’s an answer. I’d do some research looking for a maker who’s work you admire and reach out to them about your issues and if they have experiences building boots for folks with similar issues.

Found this pair of red wing 1188 in Abilene rough out leather on Vinted in very good condition and cheap as dirt. I usually wear US7, 7 1/2D but these are in 8E and fits perfectly with an insole and thick socks. Very comfortable. I lightly coated them with dubbin as a test before doing the same to my 8268. They came out pretty great.

I have two pair of Justin tall lace up boots. Love them but never wear them as the laces are such a pain in the ass. I am at the pull-on or velcro stage in my life.

I have a pair of Nocona for almost 20 years. I love to wear them with a straight cut denim (like Iron Heart 666). They aged very well. Only issue, that kind of heel is super noisy...
