Cowboy Boots

Thanks for sharing the info @belfastboy and @Bamaboots. Especially the pics, Cuz. Did the guy down on the parkway you told me about put them on for you? I've got some repairs I need done and haven't been all that crazy about work I've had done around town. It's ok on the work boots, I guess, but I wouldn't trust them with any of my vintage or custom cowboy boots.

He didn't. I actually bought them that way. We better hurry to use that guy. I was here three weeks ago and he's in pretty poor health.

I have been putting a TOPY thin rubber sole overtop the leather soles of my cowboy boots. Do you leave them as leather?
I find the leather slippery and up here in the wet leather does not handle the wet very well and the TOPY helps extend the life of the sole. Costs $30 but worth it in my view. It is so thin it does not really show on the profile of the boot.
Same with me. In Portugal, we have a lot of paved places with slippery stones and tyles. Tarmac paved streets also tend to be slippery.
My harness boots have those, the leather sole was very slippery and after a shoe repair shop put those rubber soles, it was another game.

Love me some red cowboy boots and black with red accents. Ran across this pic from Canyon City, TX bootmaker Dean Randolph. Never seen a red welt before.

Dean is friend of mine, his business Diamond D Leather does all sorts of work his boots are my favorite I like the tooled collars he does. I’m saving up for a pair.

I order or buy Anderson Bean/Rios/Olathe (same company these days) with a “hybrid” sole. You get the the subtle feel of a leather sole but the traction and high wear of a rubber sole, I’ve only worn holes around the ball area, I do notice a lot of folks wearing holes up by the shank. I never encounter this problem even though I ride an oxbow.
Here’s a few examples of some I’ve owned/own.

Those are cool! I would like to find a pair of Acme Golden Angus, as they were the first pair of western boots I got as a kid. I see them from time to time, but not usually in 11.

I think the first pair I had as a kid were Acme . I don't remember the style , but those look cool Ed , hopefully one day size 11 will pop up . The second pair down on the right look like my first pair . I think 6D was the size I wore in the first or second grade , I wore 9-9 1/2D in the 6 grade .

Way fine lookin' boots!!

I've got a pair real similar.

I posted them before. I went back and found the pics. Here they are again for your viewing pleasure.

I'm assuming that at some point they might've belonged to Jon Roberts. Someone wrote his name and a date in them.

Home for the holidays and I stopped by the Rios factory store to see what they had in stock. You can usually stop by and pick up sample boots or customs that where never paid for or returned. All the boots are new and you can find some great one off customs.

I got myself a pair of soft denim colored waxed calf, with a tan suede top.

And I also purchased a pair of dark blue ( royal blue looking) stingray with white eye. It’s hard to see the color in this lighting, it’s very dark and subtle but when it shines you really notice they’re not just black.
