I appreciate the sentiment, but I’ll leave the writing to the others. “The Last Buckaroo” is one of my favorite books, I can’t recall the author though. He did two in that sere s and they’re both magnificent.

There are a bunch of guys like me still. Ran into a guy once who described folks like me as “western white trash” and maybe we are, but I love it. Staying up at the feedlot right now in a spare room off my friend’s house, sleeping on an antique mattress laying in the floor with my dog. Got $14 to my name right now and a crazy ex ransacking my house near Cheyenne. I had my saddle with me and my buddy got my good horse out of there while I was in Colorado so I just don’t care what she does to the place.

There was a girl at that dude ranch that I was getting along alright with, she wants me to come back down there. I’ve got a few days of fencing left to do here, then I head down that way for a visit on my way to Ryan’s packing outfit. He and I have worked together for a few years, i feel like I’ve worn those mountains out but whatever. It’s decent work and we get on alright.

Seriously. You have a knack for writing. I can see how easy it rolls out from you. I want to hear more. Take my advice. Write a short story. Someday you'll remember this advice.

Just had these delivered, a Christmas present for my wife. She has been wanting some red boots, and recently said she would like some snake or lizard skin. She asked for a pair of vintage boots for Christmas, so here they are.

I have been putting a TOPY thin rubber sole overtop the leather soles of my cowboy boots. Do you leave them as leather?
I find the leather slippery and up here in the wet leather does not handle the wet very well and the TOPY helps extend the life of the sole. Costs $30 but worth it in my view. It is so thin it does not really show on the profile of the boot.

I haven't used it, but here in the Mojave desert, moisture isn't much of a problem.

Love me some red cowboy boots and black with red accents. Ran across this pic from Canyon City, TX bootmaker Dean Randolph. Never seen a red welt before.

Those are very pretty, I like black and red together. Hurricane's black and red, with long mule ears are etched in my brain.

Thanks for posting this. They really don't look bad. I can see where this would preserve the boot.

I have been putting them on some of the vintage boots I have recently picked up. For the small amount of miles I will put on them it should prevent me from having to have them resoled
