Coolest ever leather – ever?

I hardly think it's a modern, made in China crap jacket. Given the character in the film and the rest of his outfit (vintage engineer boots, awesome looking denim and classy western belt) I'd say it's a vintage cafe racer jacket.

Meeehhh, to me that "patina" looks very fake, and the wear on these jeans is machine made (look at the picture of him sitting on the bike, no way is that wear mark on his upper thigh real).

Okay, perhaps the jeans aren't proper but the jacket and boots are the real deal. Trust me, go see the movie so you can get a better look at it. It's got all the features of a good, made in USA riding jacket: solidconstruction (look at those seams and the stitchwork), bi-swing back, classic cafe racer collar, classic 4-pocket style and thick, heavy leather. It's essentially as good as a Vanson or Aero. And no way in hell would a company like that make a jacket like that, which is built for function, and mess it up by creating fake machine-made "patina".

I agree that it's a modern take on the CR, but I quite like the styling. Looks practical. Aging is definitely artificial and as it is the case with all fake distressing, it makes no sense whatsoever. Still, it looks very nice.

Yes, I'd be very surprised if it was a vintage piece. With the sort of budget that film will have, they'll have gone out and bought new (whether made in USA, or somewhere else in the world where we don't have the magic cows that make all US jackets superior ), then wardrobe will have aged it. Same as they did with the Captain America (Bootlegger variant) jacket Aero made. It's a good look overall, albeit that the jeans look odd to me uncuffed.

Another thought on the distressing of the Daddy's Home jacket - having seen the trailer, I'd guess there's a fair chance Will Ferrell will, at some point in the narrative, attempt to be equally cool by wearing a leather jacket - which will, of course, contrast completely by being shiny and new, making him look in fancy dress against what will be portrayed as "the real thing".

Only saw that film for the first time not long before the BK brand appeared. In my mind, that's who I picture when reading Andy Falzon's posts. Always thought it was a cute idea for a brand name.

This has been a hard one! Indiana Jones was in mind, plus the actors in Battle of Britain wore their jackets like they owned them. The same for 633 Squadron for me (perhaps the first time I ever saw an Irvin as a small kid and it left an indelible impression).

That's an Aero, BTW.... made at the factory for the film, based on Ken's Bootlegger pattern (as I recall, some of the pocket configuration was changed very slightly, at the behest of the films' wardrobe department). I think it was Julie Leitch who made it, but I don't recall fully - read in somewhere. I've specualted about ordering a similarly modified Bootlegger in the past - I read somewhere Ken wasn't keen on the idea of putting out a repro as a model in the regular line, though. Mind you, I've seen at least two differnet companies donig their own copy of "the Captain America jacket", so there are obviously Cap fans out there who want one!

I think Captain America looks at his absolute best in that jacket - and I find myself continually hoping he'll get another to go over that modern uniform he wears. Which he doesn't. But he really should.
And I'd love a modified Bootlegger as I think it's an amazing design (and am glad it got made that way for the movie) and colour and it just exudes quality - but I'm sadly aware that it wouldn't look the same on me as it does on Captain America. We just don't share the same frame and I'm more like Bucky-lite than Cap. As Dirty Harry once said, "A man has to know his limitations".
I recall watching the first Captain America movie with my girlfriend and there was Steve Rogers as the lab rat in the lab and he goes in that machine - and suddenly, out of the smoke, he comes out all buff and much taller - and my girlfriend sat up and clapped (!!) and she said "Oh, we have to get you one of those!".
But I really admire that jacket and that photo (which I have in my favourite images folder). Cool to the power 10.

I was going to decorate my Aero Battersea Contract with swastika's, signposts and things like that, not the same, just similar. Changed my mind though and never bothered. I guess I thought no one would get it, and probably think I was an old 'Punk' Rocker.

Yeah, I'd be wary of the swastika being misinterpreted these days. That and, well... splitting hairs, maybe, but I've never been keen on wearing the kill marks. Something a bit eerie about it. [huh]

Would not bother now, too old for that sort of thing on a repo, though I do have a squadron patch on my Eastman A2 but thats about it. I don't do reenactments as its a bit hard to pass for a 2nd Lt when you are fat n 50(+)

It's based on an original from Rin Tanaka's book. I think it was an Elk jacket. Very cool, as I remember.
