Contacting Aero Scotland from USA

Gents,

I'm trying to contact Aero Scotland from here in the USA... am I dialing the correct sequence of numbers below?

011 44 11896 755353

I keep getting what I THINK sounds like the busy signal that we'd normally hear in the U.S. but I still want to double check with you all to make sure.

Does Aero Scotland close their office during lunch hours? If so then from what time to what time are they closed?

Right now it's almost 7am eastern standard time so it's almost 12pm there.

You look like you have too many 1s in that.

Should be 44 1896 755353

(I assume the 011 bit is correct for you dialling internationally)

but I think they close Friday afternoons, although I may be wrong.

Based on what you guys wrote it looks like I have an extra 1 before the "1896" part. In any case I'll have to try again on monday since you all mentioned they're closed today.

No no no! '011' is NOT correct, where did you get that from? Our country code in the UK (in full) is 0044 followed by 1896 etc. I never really understand why people write '+44' or just '44'. If you want to get through to Aero dial 0044 1896 755353.

Is the 011 something to do with getting an outside line from an office? It's got NOTHING to do with the UK

Navin, most countries in Western Europe use a 004+ country code. 0044 UK, 0049 Germany, 0041 Switzerland etc. That 011 country code doesn't even exist. Sure, it's 001 for USA, Canada and others but definitely 0044 for England, Scotland, Wales, (Ireland?) and Channel Islands. Trust us!

Um, to follow up what Navin has said, the UK country code is +44. It just happens that you dial 00 as a prefix in the UK (and I think most of Europe) to dial internationally, that doesn't mean that you do in the US (and a quick look at Wikipedia shows that there are a bunch of places that don't use 00), and that's why people tend to write +44 on numbers for international use.

011 is the correct code for dialing the UK from the US, then 44, then the number. Just called the UK recently using those prefix codes, as usual.

Thanks SGB. I figured 011 was the correct code for us... I had no reason to question that website (i.e. the link I provided) that indicated for us to use 011, plus Mark Moye from Aeroleather USA also indicated to me that I need to use the "011".

Sorry but you definitely came across as rude with all the "NO NO NO!" comments (note your use of exclamation points)... and to top it off you were wrong in regards to the use of "011"... it is correct.

If that was the case where you were actually trying to help me then I thank you. As I said before, it's very easy to misinterpret what people say on the internet... and as far as I'm concerned I was trying to help YOU by kindly pointing this out... Gents... a huge thank you to those of you who posted in this thread.

I was able to successfully contact Aero Scotland today... it turned out I did have an extra "1" that I was dialing before so for you U.S. people here you would want to dial:

011 44 1896 755353

Unfortunately the people I wanted to speak to (Amanda, Will, and Moira) weren't available to talk to (Moira is off on thursdays and fridays) but I had the pleasure of speaking with Will's son, Brandon... such a nice guy... lovely accent too.

I'll be calling them back next week though to speak to Amanda, Will, and Moira... the nice thing is that I know they'll remember my Aero NYPD jacket since it's not a common jacket they make often (mine is only the 3rd one they've made in the last 10 years or so).
