Man I am so sorry to hear of his passing .
I'm 57 and anyone around my age can tell you that it was almost like " growing up " with him on t.v.
Hell there are just so many shows and movies with him in them he is a part of our pop culture.

Again so sorry to hear of his passing .

I'd like to add my condolences to you and your family, Douglas. As so many have already said, your father enriched our lives with his talent and set an admirable example for all of us with his service, and I tip my hat to a life well led.

Adding mine to the others, Douglas.
Didn't know he was you father or had passed on until now.
I remember seeing Charles Durning onscreen often.
A fine actor who brought life to every role he inhabited.

Incidentally, my uncle was on Omaha Beach as well, as a medic. To this day he won't discuss anything about his experiences there. I think it's a common reaction to the horrors they witnessed.
