WOW!!!! What a game by the Gators!! I thought the Gators had a decent shot at beating the Buckeyes, but I never would have predicted that outcome. A great game for Florida (and the SEC), and a fun game to watch.......unless of course you are an Ohio St. fan.

What an unbelievable game. Congratulations to the Gators and the SEC!!!!!!

Spiridon, call Castanza.
I told him I talk to you here, and he's jealous that I talk to you more than he does.

I'm disappointed.

Both that the Buckeyes lost and that I wasn't in Columbus to do some consoling of broken-hearted fan-ettes. ;)

I have to say that I was delighted to see the BCS confounded. That leaves Boise State undefeated - and congrats to them.

My hearty "Attaboys" goes out the the Gators. They really earned that one! They had Ohio State on their heels for the entire first half. Both were excellent teams, but there was no mistaking the better team - AND the better game plan - that day.

Personally, my season ends with the Rose Bowl, because that's the one that counts for me. Any games after that are just icing on the cake.

Alas......LSU had processed 42,000 requests for Rose Bowl tickets, too. They were really trying to show the Tournament, and everyone else, that Tiger fans follow their team.

Notre Dame had no businesswhatsoever being in the
same room with LSU.... Which fact alone should wake up some
echoes in Sorin Hall, but probably won't. :(

Harp,
The eternal hopefullness of ND fans is one of the truly great things about college football, as is the pitiful schedule allowing them to run up a record against inferior teams while being destroyed by anyone in the top 50, culminating in their complete embarassment in a bowl game.

Go OSU Beavers/Pac-10

...and Army will beat Navy. ;)

Not so fast my friend!!:)
Navy is the cream of the service academies, although I love the pride and determination the Cadets play with, they never quit. The Navy/Army game is one of the greatest traditions not only in football but in the US.

Without a doubt, Notre Dame needs to get serious about Division I Football,
and stop trading in on its marquee name and storied gridiron past; tacking
together a string of service academy horse teams, and then stumbling into
a post-season bowl game with an inflated win-loss record. Simply fielding B
grade squads against A-plus teams and dropping the last eight or nine bowls is
getting ridiculously obvious to all but the school brass who continue to cash the
multi-million dollar bowl checks and roll the occasional coach's skull into the sawdust.

Army-Navy is indeed a classic game. However, the academies, like the
Irish, now find their respective traditions eclipsed in the modern era.
Still, it's always a good brawl; unlike Notre Dame's abysmal bowl play.

Tigers open the season on Thursday August 30th on national TV vs. the Bulldogs of Moo U. I'm really looking forward to this season, with so many of our big games in Tiger Stadium.

Many Tiger fans, myself included, are eyeing the Tiger Stadium match-up with the Hokies of Frank Beamer. They beat us in Blacksburg in 2000, and have been ducking LSU ever since, cancelling at least two games up to this point. That's on Sept 8, and I hope it stays a Saturday night game.

That's just the early season, We have Auburn at home, Florida at home. Conventional Wisdom says that we have a schedule tailor-made for a championship run. I'm not counting any chickens, however. The late season calendar circling also marks a date in Tuscaloosa with a certain former coach

VT will be a tough draw for everyone next year as they will be playing with a lot of emotion and to make a statement. I don't envy them playing in Tiger stadium though. OSU did everything possible to win their game there a couple of years ago but still lost the game. Irony of it is the Alexis Serna, the freshman field goal kicker who cost us the game has gone on to win the Groza Award the next year and is considered one of the top kickers back this year.
One thing about Tiger Stadium all of the Beaver fans I know who went to the game universally complimented the Tiger fans on being a class act.

I tend to think the first game the Hokies play will be emotion filled. After that, that emotion will be played out and it will just be the next game played.

Frank Beamer is a great coach and a lifelong Hokie. I believe he will want to make a statement that VT is about more than a madmans attack. He has the ability to make a run for the title every year and this next year will be even more motivated.
