Classic Style Mag? What's up?

I have emailed Classic Style Magazine 2 or 3 times in the last 3 months and I've gotten no response. I was trying to find out if my subscription ever got renewed. It doesn't look like a new issue is out yet, either. Has the magazine folded?

Bump...

Just wanted to subscribe to this thread as I figure that here is where new info would be posted, but can't figure out how to do so without submitting a new post. [huh]

Cheers,
Tom

Oh great, now I have that bad 80's song stuck in my head... :p

I know there's something going on
I know it won't be long
Won't be long before you're gone
There's something going on

Whoa... Frida. I have not thought of that song in years. However, you are now not alone in having it stuck in your head...;)

This indicates they're either stalling or trying to build hype (or both).

This does not seem like the right move when there are people who paid for a product now 4 months overdue who are surely owed an explanation or at least, deserve to not have information withheld by those on the inside.

I'm not one of those people, and so I'm glad to not have purchased more than a year's subscription initially. Had I done so, I'd be pretty annoyed with the lack of forthrightness displayed here.

All that needs to be said is "it's coming, and here's when [date]" or "we're still negotiating this or that but expect to have it within [timeframe]" or "this may go south, in which case [actual remedy]."

At this point, merely posting a photo that suggests there are goings-on is a big gamble that it will create hype and not frustration.

Stanley,

If you look a little closer you will see......

1) I didn't post the photo....which is behind-the-scenes from issue #3. People post all kinds of photos on this board. Very few have to do with me or part of my....or Classic Style's agenda....even if I am in the shot.;)

2) That I have made a statement. If you will make use of the search function, you will find it.

Other than that....it is nice to see you here.:)

Well, I haven't seen any statements other than those in this thread, which don't really give any specifics. I did a search on the off chance I missed something, but came up empty. So maybe you can direct me towards that to which you refer.

Second, I did notice it wasn't you who posted the photo. I was not calling you out specifically/individually. I know Mr. Deckard has been involved in CS previously so I'm sure you can understand how I and others might have concluded that he's "in the know," per se. If I've unfairly drawn the connection between Mr. Deckard and CS in this case then I apologise.

Please don't get me wrong; I think CS is a great project and I think everyone involved has been doing a great job with putting it together. I've certainly enjoyed all 4 issues so far. I only wanted to make the point that if people start getting the impression (rightly so or not) that there are those "in the know" keeping silent about a project we've all been waiting months for (and for which some may have already paid in advance), that isn't a good thing. The fact that it wasn't even a new shot makes it just annoying that someone would want to play around and get people's hopes up that there may be some real news. But again, I understand if this is entirely out of your control. I hope everything works out with CS and the next issue hits the stands so I can purchase a copy. Until then I'll be eagerly awaiting any updates that come directly from the horse's mouth (as I'll be ignoring the rest of the chatter ;) )

Hey! I'm a huge fan of Classic Style and have been waiting with baited breath for the next issue. Trust me, if my local B&N didn't know what Classic Style was a year ago, they do now. I go in every Thursday when the new magazines are put out and will specifically ask for that magazine if I can't find it. I'm pretty sure the staff hides from me when I walk thru the door.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about the problems you've had securing advertisers. I thought that a sophisticated magazine put together so well would fly off the shelves like hot cakes. I know the magazine is catered to a male customer base, but as a woman I loved reading it and looking at the fashion spreads that included women in outfits that look natural and not like they are wearing a period costume. Which brings me to the suggestion of making the magazine a more unisex format. That could open up a whole new set of advertisers for you. I think that cosmetic companies like Besame would be an ideal advertisement for the magazine. I would think that TCM, special promotional DVD's of old movies, CD artists with an old vintage flare, and vintage shops would make excellent advertisers.

I'm sure that you have already thought of all of this, and I hope that whatever you do to reformat is a success. I look forward to reading the next issue when it hits the stands.
