This summer we are taking our 1974 Land Rover 88" for a short tour to Germany and France and drive on as much dirt roads as we can. As these types of Land Rovers are "meccano" like build I decided to remove the hard top and converted in to a soft top for spring and summer...

When autumn starts I will transfer the Land Rover into a truck-cab with Ifor Williams canopy (for the sheeps ;))

Thought you all might like the idea of this Safari vehicle.
Cheers,

Bought this some months ago:
1956 Volvo Viking, 4x4. 14,400km on the clock, still with the original military tyres duly marked "56" on the sidewalls.
It's in good mechanical shape, the body is going to be fully restored, and the truck bed rebuilt in mahogany and hardwoods. Destination: the bush and classic safaris.

Hopefully you're documenting your restoration with photographs. If so, that'd make a great submission to jalopnik.com

One more VW hit ...

From a short Norwegian film about transporting ice by lorry from Norway to Africa, around 1959. Porsche 356 and Samba support vehicles for the expedition. I'm afraid the link the the movie has expired though :eusa_doh:

These are a few screen grabs I made -
