A guy down the street was doing a shoot for a local magazine. It's a 'most eligible bachelor' shoot with a vintage safari theme so he called me and asked to borrow my truck for the day. Obviously, I obliged. He also borrowed my Win 94 and my Indy hat. He took a few shots of me with my truck as well, but hasn't gotten to those yet. He did send me this one today though

She's my baby I think I'm finally gonna get around to putting on the headlight brushguards this weekend...

I'm not sure one of these ever went on Safari, but I always thought they looked the part:

This one just came up on Craigslist near me, for only $1500, and it's already got the same-series engine swapped in as my DD Ford Falcon, so fleet maintenance would be easier. It's almost painful not to buy it.

Don't know about Africa. But those saw extensive use in South America.

This was my daily driver when I lived in Bahrain. Ex-Bahraini Defense Force Land Rover series III troop carrier. When I bought it, it had been sprayed white. I bought a small tub of flat black paint, a 1 inch brush and a old copy of Nat Geographic with pics of zebras in and 2 hours later, viola!

The local kids LOVED it. It is parked in the pic in one of my fav places in the whole world. That is the Tree of Life in south central Bahrain desert. I used to go out there to have a picnic and watch the sun go down. One of the most spiritual places on the planet, imho!

Very nice! I always picture those on old Grapes of Wrath style jalopies crawling across the Southwestern Desert on Route 66; but the Coleman logo on yours makes me picture a near-new '35 Ford woodie in a Northern Michigan hunting camp.

I love the VW pics. My first car was an orange bug just like that one. The colour, btw, is called "Clementine". Mine was slightly lifted with wide wheels, extractors and a small leather steering wheel.

I loved that car and still regret selling it for $550 in about 1990.

A funny thing about The Grapes of Wrath, old Joe Stalin bought a bunch of copies of the movie, to show how bad it was in America! They showed it exactly one time, all the Soviets came out of the theater saying the same thing, "even the poorest American has an automobile!"
