Joe, are these widely available in Spain? My folks spend quite a bit of time not all that far from Alicante. Might see about picking up a pair when I'm down there.

BTW, a piece of advice. These shoes come with a small jar of horse cream and a small sponge.

I actually prefer regular polish but the trick to achieve a nice finish with the horse thing is to use it scarcely. Just grab a drop of cream with the sponge and spread it all over the boot. A very thin layer will make it. Then, let it dry before use.

This horse cream is neutral, it has no color. It won't fix small scratches. I don't know if you've ever used this kind of polish.

Mine arrived Thursday. For them quite a bit today and they seem very good. They're a very, very dark brown, but I think will age really well.

Those are like the pair I got. :) The brown color is quite dark. Another advice; if at some point you want to retire them for any reason, keep the insoles. You're going to miss them.

Very like the Blunnies stout brown, in fact, I actually got these a change from my Blunnies. These have a more waxy finish, so will lighten more quickly as they scuff. Of course, re-waxing will darken them up again.

So...dummy question. What constitutes a chukka? I jsut picked up a pair of RRL boots that I love for a song. They retail for $800 or so and I paid a fraction. They're actually kick-*** and dispel the "label" hate. But I don't know if they're chukka or ?

Sorry to hear that. There are some sellers on ebay that ship from the UK but you'll have to pay custom taxes and the boots are going to cost you. :(

Can't seem to find any Chuka's in wider than 2E which I find problematic and those in 2E are limited... Sigh.

Here in Europe I've never seen markings for shoe width. They just put a number; 40, 41, 42... I guess you'd need to try them first.

Well, with more up-market Goodyear-welted shoes an indication of the width is normal, together with the "number" which basically is the length... ;). Good thing is, once you found the last for your feet, you can buy all shoes made on this last without trying. Sometimes it pays to spend a bit more...

Once again, I feel the need to mention Rancourt & Co. who now do chukka boots as well. They are more in the league of most of the jackets discussed on this forum and offer made-to-order options with incredible turnaround times. Rancourt has been making shoes for decades for the likes of Cole Haan, Allen Edmonds and others, but only in the last few years did they start making shoes under their own name after buying their business back from Allen Edmonds. In addition, their shoes can be re-crafted for a reasonable fee.
