That is a very interesting point you raise. China and the US are almost at the point of economic warfare. Yet, the US allows the "enemy", as it were, to control the supply if an incredibly important, if not vital, part of the defense supply infrastructure, for want of a better word. The greed that has allowed for this is simply overwhelming.
Btw, I know we are bumping very close to politics in this discussion. If appreciate if someone would let me know if I've crossed the line at some point. Don't want to sully my name with the members of this forum.
