NO elastic leather waistband!! Never!!! Under no circumstances!!! Waistband and cuffs (if elastic) need to be made from knitted worsted wool.
BTW: This specific jacket looks horribly cheap and should fit like a tent! This is what heavily overweight German Mercedes-Benz-Granddaddies would wear...

Well, it's a sale, and if you want it... but I think it would be better to invest in something a bit more expensive. The leather (as they say it is) looks plastic looking, and I don't like the elastic waistband. It seems the general style you're after might be the A-2.

The crew around here are often very specific about what they'll accept as a decent leather jacket. It usually is about the design (a classic item with a 1930-1950 pedigree) being trim and nothing like the kinds of jackets you can get in a mall. This jacket is a fairly unsophisticated model that hasn't enough classic chic about it to be taken too seriously by many jacket freaks. That can feel excluding, but this site is to celebrate specific kinds of gear. If you like the jacket get it. If you're happy, go for it. There are classic designs I can't stand the look of so don't expect to like or relate to everything recommended on this site.

You don't need it. I am sure you don't need it.
But if you can't live without it, get it.
Who are we to decide? Other than a bunch of aficionados and "style fanatics".

Only YOU can answer your own question of 'do I need it.' It's very subjective. However the Gents have given you some objective feedback too and really that's all the help that can be offered.
The vintageleatherjackets.org website is another good place for specifically 'flying jackets' of that ilk. There's also a wealth of information 'in here' if you use the search engine for A2 jackets; Aero; Eastman; Goodwear; RMNZ.

Good luck with your decision.
