Ceiling Price: Slacks from WWII

One of the most amazing portions of my collection has been the items that are undeniably contemporary with WWII. In particular, I have found dozens of pairs of slacks with price tags stamped with a blue "Ceiling Price" stamp that bound the retailer to sell the pants for no more, no less than the price listed on the tag.

The owner of the store explained the concept to me, and it has been amazing to find so many styles and variations of pants that are marked with the rare stamp.

Good Question...

Actually, the majority of the slacks are marked with a waist size 40-42. I actually tried on the 34" pinstripe slacks that are pictured above. I'm currently a 33" waiste, and these slacks were a bit tight on me.

How have the waist sizes changed since the 40s? Is there any way to compare the modern sizes to the older sizes?

An interesting concept.
Have you noticed sizes that run to the larger modern men's fit?
