When I was a kid in the '70s I used to watch the Abbott and Costello movies, Popeye Cartoons, Bowery Boys, etc. because I liked the old '30s and '40s cars. Watching those movies and since my Dad was born in 1925 I never thought of WWII as being that long ago. In fact I still think of Pearl Harbor as something that happened recently. In 1995, some co-workers and I were talking about WWII and I said that my Dad saw Pearl being bombed from his window. My friends looked at me and said "wait, your Dad saw Pearl Harbor? Man, that's like my grandfather who served WWII?"lol lol Then I think that my grandfather was 7 years old during the Spanish-American War, and I still don't think that's too far back.

I simply find time passage and history relative to individual perceptions which change also.
