Any suggestion of some nice sources of hat feathers? Ideally something a bit out of the ordinary and appropriate for hats with a bit of attitude. Eric (Yeah some of us like the feather)

Spotted Owls have nice feathers for hats. :p
Actually, most hat feathers come made up of various types and you can easily get them at your local hatter or through the internet. I know Art has tons. ;) I am partial to blue feathers myself if I use them. Blue on a light gray or gray/blue.

Regards to all,

J

We have a large outdoors/sporting goods chain store here called "Gander Mountain". They've got practically everything for hunting, camping, and fishing. Including all sorts of feathers for tying fishing flies. Try that or your local equivalent?

Dangers right...

Try looking for fly fishing supplies. They have feathers of every color and shape/size. You can mix and match them to get just what you want.

Hat feathers are more than just one feather. They are a combination that are tied together in a pattern. You can find them at "Capas" Headwear in NY (upstate I think). You'll have to buy a quantity instead of just one, but what the heck...you'll get more hats right?

Never thought of the flyfishing source. We have lots of sportsmen around here so we have the Gander Mountain's/ Cabela's et. al. I'll have to take a trip out to see what they stock. If I start buying bulk at least I'll have a rationale for buying more hats:rolleyes: No spotted owls here, but some nesting bald eagles just a short ways from my house hmmmm.

Can't help you with the feather question. Maybe famous quail hunter Dick Cheyney can. (Duck!)
However, I found out years ago what calling something 'macaroni' back in colonial days meant...cool, off the hook, in, so great, etc. Apparently, 'macaroni' defined the zeitgeist of that time.
