Fastuni, i'm a fan of 'riffled surface' as you call them. i see them more for evening / black jackets, although i'm sure they'd work in horn / butterscotch colours too for general suit purposes.

many early (20-30s) US cardigans feature similarly intricate surface buttons, such as these which aren't the best example, but you get the idea:

Yes, these examples of black buttons are taken from dark suits (navy pinstripe, black) and evening wear (the last one).
(BTW "riffled" is a misnomer - I was going by the German "geriffelt" which means ribbed/corrugated...)
Here one of these buttons in brown for sports-wear:

These cardigan buttons are rather striking - yours has a "flora and fauna" feel that reminds me of the French animal-motif buttons.
