That’s a fine looking hat. Nice job!
Thank you Sir, I shipped this hat off to the new owner yesterday, this was his 3rd. hat from me, he loves the FEPSA Beaver felt hats, he tells me how he wants the hat to look and picks out all of the colors that he wants, and I build the hat, I am waiting to hear from him concerning the fit of this hat. The band block is a new idea for my customer and this is what the hat looked like with the band block in place and the finished hat liner.

Thank you all for the positive response on this hat, it was interesting and a challenge. I must have looked at hat styles and shapes for about a week figuring out how to shape this hat properly, the buyer sent me 2 images, front and side angle photos along with the specs that he wanted for the hat.

I am working on two more hats, both in size 7 1/8 with brim bindings. The brim bindings is something new for me, I think that I will use a sewing machine for the bindings, that way if I am lucky the bindings won't look like I was loaded when I stitched them in place and if I am real careful I won't sew my fingers to the hat.

Just in case does anyone know how to get blood out of a fur felt hat?

Hello Fedora Fans,

I have 3 hats listed on Ebay for sale now, 2 Indiana Jones Raiders stye, 1 is a chocolate brown rabbit in size 7 1/4" and the other a FEPSA Beaver in 7 3/8", the third hat is a Steel Gray in 7 1/4" with a burgundy color hat band. My recent project hat is a Clint Eastwood style hat in chocolate brown in size 7 1/8" the crown height is 4 1/2" gambler or telescope shape the brim width was 3 7/8" with brim binding, then I put a 1/2" pencil curl in the brim, I put a brown satin lining in the hat with paisley print pattern and a 2" wide leather sweatband in chocolate color with a black hat band bow, I have a veg-tan leather strap in natural color that I am going to use to make a hat band. no buckle. I put a scrape piece of leather on the hat to see what it might look like. This is how the hat looks right now, I will be posting it on Ebay for sale later this week. I may put a couple of soft impressions in the front of the crown and put more of a pinch in the front of the crown.
Let me know what you think?

Darrell

Hello Fedora Fans,

Here is a Western Style hat that I have been working on. Hat size 7 1/8”, the sweatband was cut to 22 5/8", the crown is a teardrop shape with small impressions on each side of the crown. The crown height is 4 1/8" tall, brim 3 7/8" wide, the brim binding is grosgrain ribbon in 5/8” width, chocolate brown 100% rabbit fur felt. Brim binding sewn to brim edge using a sewing machine, then I put a ½” Pencil Curl in the brim, this was my first brim binding using a sewing machine. The hat has a brown satin hat liner with a paisley print and I have a piece of veg-tan leather that I used antique jell on to give hat band a worn look.

Hat size 7 1/8”, Sweatband size cut to 22 5/8”, Crown height 4 1/8” high teardrop shape, 3 7/8” wide brim with binding, ½” pencil curl.
I started out to make a Clint Eastwood style Good Bad Ugly Western style hat, I came close however I drifted a little and made some changes. This hat could still be made into a Clint Eastwood Good Bad Ugly hat if I buy a hat band with buckle and straighten out the 2 side dents, the Eastwood hat had a small pinch in the front on top of the crown that bad the gambler shape look like a teardrop. Here are some photos of the hat as it is now.

Hello Fedora Fans,

This hat was something that a customer ordered from my Etsy store page, he wanted Clinte Eastwood Good Bad Ugly hat, he wanted the hat in a 55cm size, 6 7/8" with 4 1/2" tall crown, gambler style, brim width 4 1/8" with a bound brim and 1/2" pencil curl. I made the hat in the following his specs and when the hat was finished, I sent photos to him through the Etsy messaging system and without any reply, he closed his Etsy account, leaving me with the finished hat. So I made some changes and put the hat for sale on Ebay, so far about 22 people have looked at the hat, the hat will be posted on Ebay for about 2 weeks and if no one wants the hat, I will remove it from Ebay, make more changes and put the hat back on Ebay for sale completely different than it looks now.

The customer knew that I sold hats on Ebay also, so I made changes to the hat before I posted it on Ebay, however if I knew who the buyer was on Ebay when they made a purchase, I would have refuse to do business with the individual that ordered the hat.

This hat has been a lesson learning experience, it has given me something to think about, for instance: maybe I should ask for a deposit from customers that I don't know?

I decided to post the information about the Etsy customer, just in case other hatters are selling hats on Etsy or some other selling platforms.

Thank you for your time and interest,
Darrell

Always get a deposit at least large enough to cover your base hard costs.

Yes I should have required a deposit for the hat, I didn't expect this person to just shut me down and leave me with a hat, he was constantly asking me to make the hat. I had to learn how to make a brim binding, that was holding me back. I figured that in the process of making the hat that I would learn how to make a brim binding with a pencil curl. There are some positives to this hat, one big thing is I can make any style hat using this hat. The brim is 3 7/8" wide 4" with the binding, I can iron the brim flat or cut the brim down, change out the hat band and reshape the crown. This hat maybe going through some changes in a couple of weeks. I can always block the hat for a size 7 1/4", bash the crown into a Indiana Raiders style and iron the brim flat, shape the brim with in a western style, curved up on the sides.

Hello Fedora Fans,

I decided to make a dark gray Indiana Raiders style fedora, I tried to get as close as I could to the gray fedora that Harrison Ford wore on the Pan Am Clipper Ship airplane in the Raiders of the Lost Ark. This fedora is a size 7 1/4" with the dimensional brim cut, 2 7/8" wide front and back, 2 5/8" wide on the side. The height of the crown at the tight pinch in front is 4 7/8", crown height in the back is 4 1/8", crown height on the sides is 5 1/8", the grosgrain ribbon is 1.5" wide and black in color, I used a brim flange to shape the back of the brim and turned the front down, the back can be turned down if you want more of the Indy look. I will be posting this hat on Ebay for sale, I have 3 other hats on Ebay for sale this will be number four. Everytime I post a Indy Style fedora on Ebay in size 7 1/4" it sells in 7 days time. Here are a few photos for you to look at.

Thank you for your time and interest,
Darrell

Hello Fedora Fans,

I just finished work on a Western Style fedora, the rabbit felt is a khaki color, the 1.5" wide ribbon is grosgrain ribbon that is a dark green, almost dark brown, the crown is 4 1/4" high at the front pinch and 4 1/8" at the back, I gave the crown a Raiders style bash, the brim is 3 1/2" wide and flat, the brim in the front is slightly turned down a little, the leather sweatband is a medium brown and 2" wide, the satin liner is brown with a gold paisley print, the hat size is 7 1/4". I will put this hat on Ebay for sale and with the brim size I will have to ship this hat in a bigger box. Of course I could always cut the brim down to 2 1/2" wide or 2 7/8" wide. Here are a few photos for you to look at and let me know what you think....

Thank you for your time and interest,
Darrell

Hello Fedora Fans,

I have a steel grey fedora for sale on ebay and I rebashed the hat a little, the crown is a diamond shape and last night I worked on the diamond shape a little more and worked up a small diamond shape inside the larger diamond shape, the front pinch is tight and from the top of the crown down to the top of the hat band. I thought that I might post the photos here and maybe get some advice, maybe there is an area that I need to work on, so I am looking for some input. I know that my ability to make good photos needs some work or rather a lot of work. But here are the photos for you to critique.

The hat size is 7 1/4" just in case anyone is interested, I can remove the sales ad from Ebay, this hat or any other hat that you might be interested in, contact me using the start a conversation link.

Thank you for your time and help,
Darrell

Hello Fedora Fans,

It has been a while since I have posted anything here on The Fedora Lounge, so I thought that I would post a hat that I recently finished it is in the same style as my previous Indy Fedora hat in dark grey with a black hat band, size 7 3/8", I have 5 hats posted on Ebay right now and I have another on a block that will be size 7 1/8", the color is a darker grey color, it is a FEPSA felt. I am thinking about making it another Indy style hat with the dimensional brim cut, the weight of the felt that I am working on is 120G weight rabbit. Here are a few photos of the dark grey that I just finished and posted on Ebay, size 7 3/8". Here is the link to my ebay sales:
