I work for a well known clothing company here in the uk but it always bugs me that I have to wear the clothes they sell. For one they are way to..old..for me. Always too big and its hard to inject your own personality sometimes.

I really want to show that you can make a super cool 50s inspired outfit that is both comfortable (so flats here! brouges or saddle shoes I have) and pratical for running up and dowm stairs to the stockroom. Also, something that stands up to our chilly air con! (why managers feel the need for it to be like the frikkin artic i dont know!)

So Ladies.....help me build an outfit:

ha ha, you're totally right about the air con thingy! i completely commiserate there.
you're also right to say their sizes are big - nearly the whole of the high street sizes are too big though and on an ever increasing trend, so they are not alone there.
their cuts also seem to very much favor the well endowed female so if you are smaller on bust tough
as for building a 50s outfit with their stock, yeah you can probably do that, they always did 50's inspired stuff, it's pretty classic although these days they seem very keen to keep up with 70s and 80s inspiration in fashion and do festival chic rather than anything else
on occasions in the past they did nice 40s inspired things but sadly not so much lately

Hey there,
This is fun!

My choice isn't 50s per se, but still in the pin up/classic look.

I like this dress...as it reminds me of a sailor dress, and I love nautical!

Going with that..the bird cardigan could be cute..but the sleeves on the dress may bunch! And, it would be a shame to cover up the details of the dress. I also want this sweater.

I like these shoes, but they aren't flats!

With some of your own jewelery, this outfit could work!

As an aside, what a sweet coat:

If this isn't a marketing/advertising gimmick it should be! *lol*

Yeah, thats what I was thinking.
Dont companies like this make groupings of clothing every season to be worn together? I mean isnt the idea to be able to throw a dart at the wall hitting 5 things and be able to wear those 5 things at one time?

I love that dress - but boy is it crying out for a girdle underneath! I fear it would show every lump, bump and pantyline.

I think you're very lucky, I love Monsoon's clothing and find the majority vintage inspired. I also appreciate the fact that they have decent sized tops for girls who aren't an A cup!!
Love that cardigan.

Don't know what you mean by "too old", but I think these clothes look fine for any age [huh]

That said, Here are some cute vintage-y looks:

http://www.monsoon.co.uk/Day-Dresses/Keira-Print-Dress/invt/75207400
Has an early-mid 60s vibe.

http://www.monsoon.co.uk/Day-Dresses/Katy-Print-Tea-Dress/invt/75216302
1930s vibe

http://www.monsoon.co.uk/Day-Dresses/Tabitha-Tea-Dress/invt/75216200
Very 1940s-inspired, especially with that band below the bust. I have several 1940s dress patterns that are very much like this.

Butterfly you may think about getting things altered to fit you in the bust, it's worth it to have clothes that are going to look amazing on you. And really there is no shame in needing things altered.

Too bad there aren't any Monsoon's over here. When I was in London I visited a few of the shops..but at that time all the clothing was very 'boho' and not my kind of thing.
