Bob, still enjoying the Glencairn whisky glass you gave me 3 years ago. In fact, my daughter gave me a gift set of 4 more this Christmas. I brought your glass with me the last time several of us got together in May 2012, and I expect it will accompany me on the 23rd as well. We will miss you!

Yes, I need to make reservations yet, going to make a western, starting out with a 6oz natural beaver western body. Got a couple of ebay hats that need ribbons too, or maybe Mike will want one of them. Looking forward to it, except for the long, long drive to get there.

Maybe we can get Rocky to pop a quart of 'shine.
That would make the trip 'tolable' then.

I confirmed today that I am not going to be able to make this trip, but you are all making me jealous again. I wil get there sooner or later but most likely sooner.

John, I'm not surprised you are still using that glass. I had several left over three years ago, and if you want another or two let me know. I have yet to break one of mine. I wondered if the one you had last year was the same one. I'm glad to see you're still enjoying it.

We stayed last at the Holiday Inn Express, and were very satisfied there. We'll call them again the next time we go to Covington.

Hi

I just put in reservations at the Quality inn for the 22nd and 23rd of March, it was quite a bit cheaper and all I'll do there is sleep anyway.

I'm thinking about putting an olive ribbon on the natural felt, depends on Mike's inventory of ribbon of course, but I'm thinking I want a bow-tie or similar treatment like your 'rough rider' hat.

I have visited Mike and the gang at Buckaroo and they did some tweeking on my Stetson "Gus", a little sanding and sizing. Even though I did not have a Buckaroo hat, they treated me as if I was their best customer and made me feel right at home. Down the road I plan on getting a custom hat and when I do it will be a Buckaroo.

Mike is a great host, operates an awesome shop. We will make a new hat when I visit there on the 23rd - do I really need a new hat? do I really want a new hat? or, is it just an excuse to visit Covington again?

The Buckaroo custom is back! Thank you Major, it's awesome :). This one's gone through quite a journey for what was originally just a reblocking to shorten the crown. As always, keep in mind that objects in an iPhone camera are NOT as wide as they appear.

Before, a bit too tall:

After, shortened with a BotP-style crown. Much closer to how I originally envisioned the hat:

I might get the brim cut down more eventually, but for now the wide brim serves its purpose perfectly as rain protection.
