Great you picked up the paranuntal it really is a great hat.
Mikes shop is such a great place to purchase a hat.
As he can get it right to what you want right there in front of you. Rocky and Mike make the time fly by that is for sure.

Here is a shot I told Bowlerman I had, I just found it.

Thanks to memphislawyer's adventures and recent post, I'm going to start the new year in debt. Contacted Mike about a parabuntal and the wheels are in motion. Can't have too many straw hats.

Mike. I am happy that I got that straw. I envision a may to September period to wear it. Got to see the Moorelite that Mike made for himself. Very light and looked sharp

My wife and daughter had given me grief about the height of the crown on the hat Mike did. So you don't have to thread back, here it was as before:

It was a 4 1/2 inch crown in front, and they kept calling me sheriff. Mike, Rusty and a lot of you thought it looked fine and I was getting used to having another look to hats. I am guessing that the thin ribbon accentuated the amount of 'hat" that was above the ribbon.

Mike told me to come on up and he would rebash it. Got there and Rocky took it. I brought my Stetson Saxon with me as my wife loves that hat on me (and she helped me try on like 30 hats when I bought it at Mr. Hats in Memphis). Here is how it looked:

Rocky took the Stetson, used a ruler and got the measurements front and back and then he used the steamer and just went to town. I think he nailed the proportions just right to make a clone of the Saxon:

Rocky then took me to the ribbon room and started rummaging through boxes, though there are a ton of ribbons spools on shelves. He found a black ribbon treatment with some red in it that he has on one of his own fedoras. We showed it to Mike and Mike took it and ran from there. He got the spool in I think a 12 ligne and then showed me a grey (we each did not like) and then a blue and a black and a maroon treatment. Well, here is the new ribbon work:

Here is the hat with me in it today:

So, to my wife, she likes that there is more space between the pinches now, and the hat does not look as tall, even though it is only taking it down a 1/2 inch. So the thing I learned is that yes, a half inch matters to a woman.

While there, yes, I played around with the other hats. Kept taking my Stetson to see how it compared to the grey Winchester felt bodies that Mike made hats out of and I like Mike's grey - the Stetson has a more brown hue. Mike has a couple of hats that are cheaper (I saw some $165 prices) and the fur looks really sanded down and someone who could wear it could get a hat for a few bucks cheaper. Rocky says they were busy in December and even up to now so he came in at night during the past week to get some orders out. He needs to make more stock hats to put back onto the walls as I guess some hats got sold off the rack.

Mike had one sweet pecan hat with a darker brown ribbon that looked stunning. He had a seamstress there and some other lady who herself had on a sharp hat, and they loved a brown hat on me. I may have to agree, though the brim is too big, I can see me getting a chocolate brown hat:

A neat treat was that one of our members, Thunderball who is from Huntsville, had driven up. He brought his son and I dont know if the other young man there was another son or not. He showed me the group Akubra Campdraft that came in, and MIke bashed it for him and it looked sharp on him. I got to see the Hatsplus Open Road from Biltmore (Canadian) that he ordered and it felt so soft and looked good as well.

I just looked at the Buckarro Hatters Facebook page. It looks great. I enjoyed looking through the gallery of hat pics. Those "Pale Rider" hats are cool! If you haven't already done so, you may want to check it out.

That is a great hat! Where's the coonhound? I hope to watch that movie this weekend.

ML I like the rework, although I also liked the thin ribbon on you. That chocolate is very nice on you also.

Memphis -

I like the re-work on your Buckaroo. I thought it would be too low from your description, but it's just about right. And that's what matters most, that you enjoy the hat with confidence. You look a lot more comfortable in the second picture after it was lowered. Nicely done.

Thanks AnA. Probably look more satisfied since wife stopped calling me sheriff and actually said she likes how it looks. We have a friend in church who is a bit older than us, wears an Annie Hall-type of hat and looks cute in it and I will tell her about the lady that was in Mike's store that handcrafts the ribbon treatments and blings them out. She was wearing a hat with, well, I can't describe it but it was sharp.

I'm wearing a new Buckaroo tonight that I didn't expect, but Kim found it on our front stoop when she got home. She said she thought about putting a bow on the box and calling it my present for my birthday that's coming up, but she knew that wouldn't work. I'll put up a picture or two later when the light is better for picture taking. This is the first western in my collection, and I'm liking it a bunch. Thanks for sending it on up, Mike.
