One thing about the Akubras, is, you can abuse them pretty badly and they will bounce back.
At any rate, I think the look you have there suits that hat well, kind of a "country gentleman" look.

I agree about the Akubras. The Akubras I own that actually do fit me well have taken all my ignorance and stupidity in stride lol.

Funny you mention this, as I had gone outside to do just this with my Tawny Fawn. I hated that hat, but the new brim treatment put new life into it, and it's now ready to enter my rotation again.

I like the slightly upturned brim. Good thinking.

I'm looking at getting a custom with a pencil-curl; something fedora-esque, but with a western flair. Appropriate for attire from jeans + polo through khakis and oxford (maybe occasionally a blazer). This thread has helped me with some ideas, but are there other ideas/suggestions/pictures y'all have?

The tool is easy to figure out and I’m happy with the results. I didn’t want to lose a lot of brim width so I didn’t take it too far. My practice hat is a used Akubra Cattleman that I picked up at a good price:

This black Beaver Brand has a more generous 3 1/2” brim so I gave it more of a curl. No before photo, but it was completely flat:

It’s now a sort of western lords hat.

The tool is easy to use and just requires some patience and multiple applications.
