Branded Orchard M/C A-2

Anyone know anything about these? I've only seen a couple; one with a one piece back in the more traditional style, another with a two piece back (not vertical down the center, but like a horizontal yoke across the upper back) and side entry pockets.

I just did a quick search online, if the jacket is an issued jacket, then it should belong to this contract:

1992 DLA 100-92-C-0346A

That other thread is reasonably detailed for what is not a 'popular' or common brand among forum members. I doubt you'll get more info than the A2 review by Cedric Satterfield in that other thread.

Appear to be an awful lot of '86 Orchard G1's on the market

This is an issued Orchard A-2 from their 1992 contract. These were, hands down, the best of the modern A-2s. But you have to get one that was actually made for the military. Orchard continued to make this jacket for the civilian market long after their military contract expired. And sadly, the civilian jackets were nowhere near the quality of their military A-2s.
