Sorry on the poor picture quality. Started learning sharks gill bows using some inexpensive grosgrain ribbon before I start using the 1930s ribbon stock that I have. I used photo references to get an idea of how to start making them. Additionally I owe a thanks to @Cane Rod Maker for tips he provided through direct messaging.

I laid the bow on top of another piece of ribbon just for context. It is not tacked down which is why it isn't laying as flat as expected. It has invisible stitches.

This is just a throw away sharks gill for me. I will be making several more just for practice. Have ideas using wider ribbon, smaller loops, dog eared corner, exposed stitches, contrasting stitches, decorative stitches (little x shapes), and others.

Wow! Very cool Steve!!
Harv, Thanks!

I could spend an hour just staring at this display. Thanks for sharing this study Steve.
Mike, Thanks too!

Those are neat, Steve. Now we have a go to reference for custom bow ideas.
Sent directly from my mind to yours.
Fruno, Thank you!

Amazing, thanks for sharing. I will use this as reference for the next hat I make and what bow I want to put on it. Very cool.
Vito, Thank you too!

I have larger photos if needed. The samples are probably from before WWII so very special.

Larger photos would be great! Do you have them somewhere on a photo sharing site that I can download from? If not I will DM you and provide my email address if you don't mind.
