Bonnie and Clyde death hats

Michaelson said:
What I found disturbing in the report was that before law enforcement was able to 'secure' the area, locals were stealing everything they could from the car for momentos. One woman was rifling through Bonnie's purse, cutting snippets of hair off her head, and the officiers even stopped one man from cutting off one of Clyde's ears before they were run off and the car towed (with the bodies still inside) to town for autopsy. So, who KNOWS what was actually left IN the car when the offical examination was made! Regards! Michaelson

Geez, with a lax scene like that I wonder if the car still had hubcaps and an engine! :p How did they know that Clyde didn't have shoes and a tie on in the first place? :p

Regards to all,

I can't imagine why he would be driving barefoot. I have trouble driving a stick shift like that, have to have at least some sort of mocs.

I bet they grabbed his hat, his shoes, his tie, whatever else they could easily grab. Which would explain that, by the time the authorities stopped the thefts, someone was after his ear.

I wonder what they took from Bonnie?

The initial report of the no shoes and the like were reported by the original 'shooting' law enforcement officers. Apparently they approached the car after the shooting, wrote their report on the scene, gathered up the guns from the trunk, then pulled back until local law enforcement arrived to take charge of the car and bodies. THAT'S when the locals moved in on the car, as word got out that Bonnie and Clyde had been stopped, and a crowd gathered by then. Regards! Michaelson

I too have looked at the car. It looked to me as if there were two sets of volleys at the car. Both sets of volleys appear to have been fired from multiple rifles and from slightly differing angles. This would correspond to several shooters firing at the vehicle at once. Both volleys would have resulted in lethal wounds. The first set appears to have been fired from the drivers side with the bullets coming in a slight downward angle. This would explain the bullet wounds on the legs of Parker (front passenger) and the bullet wounds going left to right on both of them. The second volley appears to have been fired through the windscreen of the car. I would suggest these rounds were fired as the posse approached the car as "finishing" shots. These rounds entered from front to back in the perps and exited into the back seat area. Much of the contents of the trunk was small arms, ammunition and clothes. These contents were mostly undisturbed by gunfire. Barrows hat could have been damaged in the brim in the second volley of fire that came through the windscreen. If his head was back to its full extent (ie looking up) a bullet could have passed right through the brim from the second volley of shots. The shot would have been a entry on the bottom of the brim and exit on through the top. There are a large amount of photos on the net of the death car and the scene. There is also a photo of both Barrow and Parker being removed from the car. The car was towed, with bodies in it, to the corners office. Maybe it is the lighting but the photo of Barrows body being removed has a hat on his chest. The hat appears much darker than the one being show today as the hat he wore. He did appear to favor tan colored fedoras as they appear in a number of photos of the couple.

The report states that the volley was fired from one side of the road, and the car rolled to a stop in the ditch after passing the shooters. They fired on the oncoming car from the passenger side of the road. There was not a second volley, nor a reason for one, as Clyde died instantly, and Bonnie as soon as the lawmen reached the car. I'm thinking you're seeing the results of a car moving past through a continual volley of fire, which is why there were holes in the various locations throughout the car body.
