I stumbled on this Boater last summer in a local antique store. Was purchased originally at Stern Brothers Dept Store in Parkersburg, WV. Owners initials R.W.C. can be seen inside. Anybody have any ideas on it's age? The store it came from closed sometime in the late 1950's. thanks!

This is a sweet straw! The logo does look older, definitely older than my Dobbs boater. The condition of the sweat is nice. You might also look at the Hatted Professor website, bookmark it you will return often. A google of the Reverse-Lap-Flex doesn't bring much.

Looking for some help dating this Boater I just landed from the Bay. The venerable @Redfokker tipped me off to this one and the gent selling it gave me a great deal. It was listed as a Master Mode Shower Proof Custom. The ribbon looks newer than the hat does to my eye but it could just be me. Thanks in advance for any help that can be given. Cheers! :)

Boaters have manufacture tags too. We will see what is under the sweat. Which looks quite nice by the way. I have to say it though...hey buddy! the 4th of July was a couple of weeks ago, what gives!

Yeah I asked about a tag and didn't get a response but it could have just been my eBay account which was on the fritz. I will give it a thorough examination when she arrives :) Lol, I totally agree this one was a little late to the party and would have been perfect for the 4th. Nothing a ribbon swap won't fix as I find the one it has a bit loud. ;)

Thank you sir. As I am new to boaters I'm not sure if that is good or bad. Does that by chance help to give it a time period range of manufacture (in the event that this hat doesn't have any additional info under the sweat)? The seller stated it was from the 1920s but it certainly doesn't look that old to me. Forgive my ignorance and thank you again. :)

Was referred to this thread from another post. I have nice info on this boater....but it fit, and I literally said Sunday morning I wanted to find one, lost out on auction, but found it in antique, so had to buy

Any advice on how to clean/Sterilize? I usually steam from kettle and/or freezer method with regard fedoras....unsure how that'll treat straw

Great find! It was made by Ottmar Reich Lindenberg, Germany(see my Avatar). Lindenberg was a major Straw Hat make center in Germany and Ottmar Reich was one of the largest factories. It's probably pre WWII. You can learn more here.

The Ottmar Reich factory building is now the Deutsches Hutmuseum Kulturfabrik. I visited the museum in January 2016.

If possible please post it here too.

Why do you think it needs to be sterilized? It looks to be in good condition.

Can you take side and front photos? Also a better one of the liner? Here is what I am looking for. Thanks!

Sooooo much appreciated. I'll post some pics on that thread.

Haha I'm a wee bit ocd...perhaps a simple cleaning with alcohol pad would do
