Hats on Boardwalk Empire? More than anything else, that show has me wondering how best to get bloodstains out of hats. And shirts. And suits. And floorboards. And plaster walls.
I realize that Prohibition-era gangsters weren't noted for playing nice, but man oh man, at the rate these guys are bumping each other off, well, the writers had better introduce some new characters if they expect to have a third season. (Yeah, yeah, I know -- it's only the minor characters who get written out of the script. So far anyway.)
As has been noted by others here, the hat wardrobe isn't, on balance, a model of period accuracy. It would be better if it were, but many of those hats are still pretty cool, even if they are more than a step or two out of time. And Nucky's homburg? You know, the bone-colored one that seems to be his go-to lid? It's just off, especially when it's on.
