I actually think the agent standing next to Van Alden is the one whose Fedora really shines in that picture. The felt quality looks great. -M
I was explaining this very thing to my wife Sunday night while watching it on DVR after the original telecast. The green hat hat looks so authentic!
Just a thought, but you might try asking Graham - I doubt he made it for the show, but he does deal in Milans, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's had some experience with flat caps. He might be able to put the two skills together. -M
I'll ask him. Thanks! Milan straw flat caps do exist and are still made for the mass market, but they do not have the '20s-'30s look of Nucky's cap. Also, the weave on Nucky's looks special to me: the warp and weft seem to curve or arc toward each other, intersecting.
Rusty it's not in his character to wear a fedora only homburg's.
