Black Tie Bow Ties

Has anyone ever used http://www.bowtieclub.com/ ? I had thought that I would need to have a bow tie custom made (sized + pointed ends) for my black tie ensemble, but since I have decided to go with a turndown collar, I no longer need a sized bow. I want pointed ends since my dinner jacket will have peak lapels, and this is the most budget friendly option that I can find. Can anyone speak as to their quality?

And while I am leaning towards pointed ends, I am still not entirely convinced by them. I am trying for a Wartime look, similar to the one below, but his is a standard butterfly. I suppose the question is, were pointed end bows considered appropriate with black tie in the '40s?

I have several bows from The Bow Tie Club-as a matter of fact, I just ordered six more last evening. I have found them to be decent quality ties, reasonably priced- especially the Internet Specials. You may also consider Bow Ties Limited, www.beautiesltd.com, or Hanauer, www.hanauer.com which both offer very nice quality neckwear at reasonable prices as well.

Beau Ties Ltd. doesn't offer a pointed end model, and Hanauer is a bit more than I'd like to spend.

Two things strike me about this image: First, all the military people are looking admiringly at the civilian. I find this just . . . interesting. The second thing, not a single pencil mustache in the room. This must coincide with the moment during WW II when belts overcame suspenders in popularity.

hanauer ties are quality. A pointed end tie is available as an option with the faille tie. This is the one I use

Well, it's only seventeen dollars more, so I may go with them if they are of higher quality than BTC. I would be using satin because unless I truly luck out, my dinner jacket will have satin lapels. The real question is, were pointed end bows acceptable with black tie in the '40s?

Hm, maybe I will change my mind...again.

Evening bowties with pointed ends were extremely popular in the 1940s. You'd be entirely appropriate wearing them.

In the 'teens and '20s, you could even find evening bowties with rounded ends.
