My brother got Pappy's autograph out at Oshkosh one year, on an article about him in the bound volume of 1945 Leatherneck Magazine my parents brought home from the war. Definitely a prize possession.

Well behind the front lines!
I have a funny memory of this show from recent times.
Around 2000, they were showing a marathon of this series on TV and I had the day off from my active duty Army 'job' as it was a holiday but my wife didn't ge the day off from her civilian job.
Anyway, she comes home and reads me the riot act for sitting around watching "yet another WW2 show on TV," and demands I turn it over to something else (this kind of thing happened all the time in the beginning of the marriage, before she realized she was fighting an unwinable fight :eusa_doh: ). The moment I turn the TV off, a real corsair flies right over the duplex, on approach to the local avaition museum. Their Corsair never flew right over the house before and never did again in the time was still lived there. The funny thing was she recognized what kind of plane it was and that it was what I had been watching on TV. She just stood there with her jaw hanging open, not sure what to say. Finally, she mumbled, "Only you would have that happen at a moment like that." I didn't say a word and just stood there with a silly grin. :D

I have an original copy of Boyington's book for sale if anyone is interested.

I'll throw a copy of the video in if I can find it...
