1930s Knox Premier refurb Bob just did for me. Got it yesterday, and it is way better than I could have imagined.

Nice Harv! We all like to preserve these old hats but sometimes they need a little help. You've added value to this hat by making it better than it was originally. i think I need to do this to a few I have. Would it be inappropriate to ask what something like this costs? I didn't see prices on BSHW for this kind of service (probably more to do with my poor internet skills)

Exactly, I guess I was just repeating your point tommy. I think the cost has to be determined on a case by case basis, it's best to contact Bob about this. From my point of view, it has always been reasonable and worth it.

Thanks fellas. It turned out really nice. Bob told me that this one was worth saving. Tommy, it ran me just shy of 200 bucks to have it refurbed, but it needed everything but the felt. :p

Thanks for the recent compliments fellas.

To give a quick answer to the cost of a refurbish, they can range anywhere from $20 and up. It just depends on the hat. Like Mike said, when in doubt give me a call. If we can save an old hat, I am happy to do it.

Good to hear and thanks for the responses. Sounds reasonable and worth it to me especially as I would do the sweatband and liner treatment only on hats that I want to wear regularly and keep not to preserve an ultra rare example of a mark. Now where do I start..........

So Bob has been posting some teasers today on Facebook:

He's calling it the "Pinnacle Edge" treatment...I don't know what kind of hatter magic this is, or if it is a "true" felted/Cavanagh edge, but it sure looks mighty nice!

Jared, I've been sworn to secrecy for months about the Pinnacle Edge after seeing various prototypes but can assure you that it is indeed comparable to a Cav-edge. Since the true Cav-edge was done during the felting process and that art has been lost for decades, Bob's is indeed hatter magic.
