I just want to take a moment and compliment the outstanding craftsmanship on Bob's Ladies' line of hats. These are outright works of art.

If it weren't for my being of the masculine persuasion I'd get a few of these myself.
Time to get a girlfriend, I guess...:D

Bob is a really creative guy. Amazing what he can do with a couple of old lampshades and some bed-springs that someone had taken to the dump :D:D

Here's something a little different from Bob @ Black Sheep.

A while ago I saw a flat cap on Bob's Facebook page that I thought looked really good. He told me it was supposed to be similar to a cap that some actor or other had worn in some movie or other. Despite that, I asked Bob if he would make make one for me and he went ahead and did so.

I had a number of nice tweed material to choose from and went with this one.

Very pleased with the result.

If the hat looks a little scrunched up that's because it's been packed in my bag for a couple of business trips. I love the way Bob has finished off the inside with a quality leather sweatband and nice lining.

Having a flat cap is great for photo jobs, fedoras and cameras just don't play nicely together! :D

David, that's a cool hat. In all my trolling through resale/antique shops, I never see caps with leather bands, let alone in my size. Might have to get one of those!

Thanks guys.

Randall, if you check in with Bob, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by his price for such a nicely finished cap.

wife anniversary CLOCHET HAT

When i went up to washington and spent 3-4 hours sitting there talking with Bob and his wife, i mentioned to Bob that my wife has been wanting a clochet hat, so there in the middle of the bakery at pikes market (first off it was great for me to be back in my home state and show my wife where i am from). Well anyways in the middle of the bakery Bob pulls out a tape measure and started measuring my wifes head, she discussed what she wanted.
Well 21st was my wife and i's 5 year anniversary, the only thing i did was i asked Bob, can you add daisy's thats her favorite flower. He did a stunning job on this clochet, based off of the 1930's, and my wife loves it. So ladies Bob does amazing work. This is a rabbit felt, hand sculpted clochet, start calling him up he does wonderful hats, so much we are working on another custom for myself. So yes i am praising his work, he is willing to search for felts, anything really just ask. His customer service is amazing, i'm glad to have Bob as my friend as well as my hatmaker.
thanks Bob

Any folks here have a hat from Blacksheep Hat Works?

Been looking over their offerings and have found two styles that look interesting. The "Alpinemist" as the ultimate "Arkansas" style of hat. ( I am getting to like extreme tugboat in a crown now :) ) and the "Shadowhawk" for my ultimate 40's style. Just curious as to what experience anyone has had with their hats. Thanks.:)

There are some nice examples in this thread that was started by our friend, jlee.

I have a flat cap that Bob at Black Sheep made for me and a fedora project in the works.

He is a really creative guy - check out the really cool ladies hats on his site.

He's an amazing person, hatmaker, excellent customer service, and his materials are top notch. He has made some amazing hats for people here on the lounge, including one for my wife listed above, and myself. I've had the honor to meet him in person, and become his friend over the last year. Yes i recommend Blacksheep hatworks with high regard, with no complaints.

Hmm, I had started a reply to monbla's original post, but I think I hit reply when the threads were merging and it got lost?

Anyways, in short; Bob really went the extra mile for my custom hat (the one in my avatar pic). He hand dyed the body to a custom Ox Blood color, and even dyed a second body when I expressed some reservations about the first. His ribbon work is extremely precise. And he will make sure that you are satisfied with your purchase. In fact, I'm going to be sending my custom Milan back to him to have some stiffener added. He is a pleasure to do business with. I have a 100% beaver and a natural fiber Milan from him and both are exactly what I envisioned. I have not one negative thing to say about either of my transactions with Bob and would highly recommend him.

I have one of his hats. It's in my avatar, Monbla256. I like it a lot.

Haven't had the chance to visit his shop, but I did bump into Bob on the street near Pike Place market when I was in Seattle this August.
