My birthday was yesterday and it was akin to so many of my past birthdays. In short, I live in Iowa where 12/11 is consitently cold, icy, snowy, gray and miserable. As a rule, my friends don't want to leave the house - for anything (think John Goodman in The Big Lebowski with "Shomer Shabbas!").
As per usual, I did not go out to eat, I wasn't able to find anything entertaining, those close to me made quite pitiful attempts to warm the day but were sure to sprinkle in bouts of self-pity, I ended up being the servant rather than the served (which is how I typically prefer it any other day) and overall, I was rather disappointed.
My point in creating this thread was not to cry in my milk this morning (although it sure feels nice to tell someone), but to get an idea of whether or not you Loungers have the same problem. I'm not interested in the, "You should be grateful for..." lecture, I've already heard that one.
Do you find yourself disappointed consistently on your birthdays or does someone regularly find a way to sweep you off your feet each year?
