IMO the general public wouldn't even make the connection of Brando to the jacket. Your over thinking it a little.
Treeman,
I'm sure you are right that most people wouldn't make a Brando connection, especially not when I'm the one wearing it! Without the belt the jacket feels and looks natural to me, whereas with the belt it felt contrived. That's all I was trying to say in my earlier post.

I’m wearing my J-21 every day and just once there was a person who told me it’s very Wild One-ish. I know, it’s not a J-21 Brando is wearing, but anyway...
On another note:
I’m 35 now and old enough to decide and know what I want to wear. I’m also quite happy to have a job, where I don’t need to think about what anyone else is thinking about it. The same outfits I’m wearing here, I wear to my job every day.
If I like something, I’ll wear it. When others look at me strangely, that’s totally fine. I don’t wanna look like anyone else in this grey world. Actually, I don’t want to fit in, haha!
And you shouldn’t either.
Totally agree with what you are saying (and who wouldn't!), however I never where my leather jackets to work, I would likely get sneered at and have comments like "oh alright for some who can afford a jacket/s like that" blah. blah. Yes, there really are people I work with who would say that or at least I'd pick-up on the gossip later. So I wear my Barbour to work instead!
Up-date on my request to have my order changed from buckles to belt. SB say they are not sure as my order gone down to production! I was surprised as my order only went in 1-2 weeks ago and wait is 4-6 weeks.

My experience is that most people have no idea how much a jacket costs. Only schooled observers have the eye for something precious. Well, they might be thinking it's well made and probably not cheap but not likely guess the actual price. That's also why I like the fact of not having any brand signs on my clothing. Haha.

A-1,
In my experience you are right about this one. From time to time a friend of mine will attempt to guess how much one of my jackets cost. They are usually off by 50% if not more! I just nod and say "that's pretty close".

Ordered an SB classic biker jacket couple of weeks ago. Opted for no belt and asked for the optional side adjusters instead. The final order stated double side adjusters both sides. I asked if this was a functional feature or just for show. I was told it just looked more "bad ass". I accepted this initially but it has been bugging me. I prefer a jacket to be functional and generally don't like excessive clutter on a jacket. Besides not sure at my age I want to look "bad ass"!
Have tried to find some pics of double side adjusters to no avail. Anyone out there have them and can show me some pics? As important what do you think, one set of adjusters or two? Would double adjusters give the a classic bike jacket give a more balanced look?
I still have time to amend my order, so any thoughts/pics appreciated.

I like the double side adjusters and i like the clean look without a belt.

I like them. Lewis kinda over does it with two on each side but it still looks good.

They tend to look better on CR, civilian and Highway man type jackets.

Asymmetrical MC jackets look real good with lacing on the sides.

I love this beltless version. But most importantly I love the collar and lapels. It's in my on deck circle.

Thanks Insomnia. Have now gone with the belt option, just feel it makes the jacket "complete". Nothing not to like about the beltless option of corse. Many thanks.
