Lawman's plea was simple. Somebody buy this hat and keep me out of divorce court!
Well, strictly in the spirit of supporting the institution of marriage, and not at all because I love vintage Dobbs hats and my favorite color all my life has been green, I stepped up. Here it is:
The felt is wonderfully soft to the touch, with a slight nap. The liner logo is different from my other Dobbs hats, I get the impression it's older than they are, perhaps 1930s?
The slanted "Dobbs" name on the sweatband, however, seems later. Perhaps the sweat was replaced?
It was advertised as a 7-1/2 and it fits like one, but the sticker inside says 7-5/8. I guess it shrunk a bit since a true 7-5/8 is way too big for me.
Brim width is 2-1/2" with a Cav edge, and the crown measures around 5-1/2" with the center dent bash.
Sorry if someone else was trying to get it, but I couldn't resist. After all, as the great Montgomery Scott said, "It's green!"
