Big Green Dobbs or, How I Saved Lawman From Divorce Court

Lawman's plea was simple. Somebody buy this hat and keep me out of divorce court!

Well, strictly in the spirit of supporting the institution of marriage, and not at all because I love vintage Dobbs hats and my favorite color all my life has been green, I stepped up. Here it is:

DobbsGreenFedora05.jpg

The felt is wonderfully soft to the touch, with a slight nap. The liner logo is different from my other Dobbs hats, I get the impression it's older than they are, perhaps 1930s?

The slanted "Dobbs" name on the sweatband, however, seems later. Perhaps the sweat was replaced?

It was advertised as a 7-1/2 and it fits like one, but the sticker inside says 7-5/8. I guess it shrunk a bit since a true 7-5/8 is way too big for me.

Brim width is 2-1/2" with a Cav edge, and the crown measures around 5-1/2" with the center dent bash.

Sorry if someone else was trying to get it, but I couldn't resist. After all, as the great Montgomery Scott said, "It's green!"

Aye, that it is, laddie! :D And it's great that we have such caring people in the Lounge, willing to make such sacrifices for our fellow Loungers!

Very nice hat! I like the dimensions of it. I have a few green hats myself that go great with a sport coat I own but they tend to be a bit on the stingy brim size.

Cheers,
Tom

It was good of you to step in and save Lawmans marriage.I have never seen a liner quite like that before. It looks like it was made for your head.

What a guy Tony!!!

ALWAYS thinking of your fellow man.

Good looking hat Sir, and as an aside, the slanted Dobbs denotes ealier, not later. They went to straight insignia on the leather in the late 50s so this could easily be '30s.

That's a wonderful looking hat - you not only scored humanitarian but also style points big-time!

And that quote of Scottie's is one of my all-time favorites from the first Star Trek series. Wonderful!
