I've seen porkpie or telescope crease in all kinds of brim widths. I really consider porkpies to be stingy brims like Rocky wore or Gene Hackman did in French connection... http://www.baronhats.com/pd.htm

any brim width will work. Late '30s- early 40s it was a wide brim ( think Zoot suit), 50's it was medium brim ( 2 1/2 +-) and 60's it was 1 3/4" The main thing is make it fit your features and have fun!!
