question ladys!

I wore the red lipliner over a bit of chapstick and red hot red lipstick, and found it extremely drying, and it wore off, and had to be reapplied about every 30 mintues or I looked like I had just liner on with some red lip tint. any helpful hints you ladies might have for this problem, I've red through past posts and noticed a lot of you said it had very good staying power, am I doing something wrong?

I noticed the Red Hot Red was different on me than the Besame Red and Chocolate Kiss. To me the Red Hot Red was a softer formula and didn't have the lasting power of the others (or my Mac Russian Red). Pretty color though.

Did you only line your lips or did you fill them in too with the liner? I have very good luck doing that.

Girls,
Are you blotting your lipstick after applying? I usually will lightly blot (press my lips on) a tissue or one of those thin blotting papers (I carry these in my purse--curler end papers work too). For a deeper color, I'll apply lipstick, blot and apply another layer and then blot again. If you're having trouble keeping lipstick on you can apply a thin layer of foundation on your lips and lightly powder before applying lipstick. And whenever I've used chapstick, on top or underneath lipstick, my lipstick always fades away quickly. I don't know what's up with that.

BTW, most of Besame's lipsticks are slightly drying as that is how they get their matte look. If you're used to the texture of lipgloss, then matte lipsticks will feel more drying. Back in the Golden Era, matte lipsticks were all that were available. Nowadays, we can have the best of both worlds!

Lucky you with the lashes, I always envied my younger brother, he got the goods in the eyelash department. But I'm cuter. lol

So did mine, He has got the black, thick and long ones. I just guess a girl can't have it all. and at least I can wear mascara...

I don't use Besame. I have nothing against the brand, I just haven't had the chance to try it. To answer your question; I apply, blot, and apply. Imo, lipstick looks best on me when the color is deep and saturated, even if it's a bright pink. Btw. I use lipbalm under my lipstick because I prefer that creamy feel if it isn't already included in the lipstick. Usually squeezing my lips hard together a few times keeps the color from fading too fast. Well, it works for me:).

I'm disappointed to hear about the mascara being smudging, as I bought 4. I was online yesterday reading reviews on the mascara (they were mostly reviews on the sculpture one) and many did find it sumdging. There was one review that said the gingerbread was just like any other average mascara but she really likes the smell and that's why she uses it. Nothing about smudging tho.
Mackenzie, did you use the sculpture or gingerbread mascara? I too, will report back to you ladies when I receive my order Although, I don't know if that'll do anything on account of their discontinuation and reformulation of their first collection.

Since Besame metioned something about discontinuing their products in the form they are in (metal cases and whatnot) I hope they keep the color in their new formulation as far as red lipsticks go (I wonder why they need to reformulate anyway. The consistency and staying power of the lipsticks are top notch already).

Their red collection is what Besame is most famous for. I was only able to buy 4 Red Velvets before they sold out. It's that perfect red I've been looking ALL over for! Not too orange or too blue. Oh, I do hope they keep the same colors in their new formula. If not, I might have to go through that search for the perfect red again! I also wonder what the new casings are going to look like!! Is anyone else excited about that? I hope they are just as elegant and symbolize the Golden Era glamour as well as the first collection did.

I didn't fill in with the liner, but I will try that next time, I love that color!

I get chapped lips easy so I have to put some sort of balm or chapstick first or my lips start looking cracked

BonnieJean, blot and apply a smidge more if needed, but I will try that foundation and power trick.

thanks dolls, I'll try both of those tips today and see how it works for me.

My order was scheduled to arrive tomorrow, imagine my excitement when I saw the UPS truck just 20 minutes ago!!

I am awe struck over these items, not only did they send me 2 free gifts in the form of vanilla lip glaze, they sent me an extra dusting powder! they were out of the vanity in light, which I ordered, so they sent me dark and credited my account $6, I don't mind that though, it's beautiful, and if I'm feeling up to it I can scoop out the contents I cannot use and refill it.

the only thing that was missing, was in my enchanting lipstick set (red), the Nior Red was completely out of the tube! the tube is there, and it looks as though there was lipstick in it, but it was taken out. so I emailed the company and expressed my satisfaction with their products, but asked if they had any left, if they could send it in my next shipment and I would gladly send them the empty tube that was in the set.

time to go play!!!
The bullet was missing from my Noir Red as well. As well as all of the Neutral set. The other lipsticks were a TOTAL mess getting open to check and I was being extra careful because I already knew from others' posts their lipsticks are a mother to open and shut without getting messy, expecially for us gals whose hands don't work well all of the time. It's only 72F  here but they were all melted and mushy, including the lipliners, and had poppedout of their cases, but at least they were there and I could mash them back in. GRRRRRRRR. Not happy, not satisfied, I sent a polite but firm e-mail. We'll see what happens.
My freebie was a little lipstick pouch. [huh]

aww that's awful! I stuck my lipsticks in the fridge for a while to harden them back up, I even looked more closely at the empty tube included in the red set, and it's not even Nior Red, it's an empty Champagne tube... somebody is being very careless over there, I imagine we aren't the only two with missing lipsticks.

yikes that's terrible VaVaVoom and Beguine - i mean even though it's clearance and a great sale price, they shouldn't be sending out any old left over empty junk. i hope they credit you for what's missing once the dust settles.

i'm sort of scared to hear what i will get (or not get) in my 8-8-08 order (that i haven't heard about yet).

Ack! That worries me too! My order is supposed to arrive tomorrow, and now I'm a bit worried about what I'll actually end up with.

Hopefully they resolve your issues in a way that is satisfactory for you! Since this stuff is discontinued, we can't simply wait for them to re-stock!

oh nooo! Audrey Horne, I didn't know there were issues with the lipsticks, if you could check them and see my babies are alright? I am sure they are quiet cosy in the fridge lol

Inky, I placed my order on August 6th and I haven't heard anything yet either. I, too, ordered some lipstick and sure hope mine doesn't arrive messed up. I'm thinking I should be getting a tracking number for my order in a few days--keeping my fingers crossed....

Uh oh, I'm getting a little worried at all the mistakes. Also, I ordered on 8/2 and I haven't heard a single thing about a tracking number or shipping.

Well, my first order is due to arrive today and the UPS tracking said it was on a truck in Tucson... That order was placed on 8/1. My second order was placed on 8/2 and I JUST got my tracking order yesterday, although when I checked the UPS tracking it didn't have any information yet.

I will be posting in the %$#@!! thread if my lipsticks are melted...lol

I placed my order on 8/1 and just got it today. Everything arrived in perfect condition. I never did get a tracking number or shipping info email.

Scarlett,
Thanks for letting us know that your order arrived OK. That's weird about no shipping info. Hmmmm, maybe that will be the same for me. I don't mind not getting the tracking number, as long as I get the goods! I'm a makeup junkie and I need my fix! lol

I've used the 1930s mascara for the past two days, and haven't had a problem with smudges, even after having an uncontrolable lenghty laugh, which always messes up my eye make up (once I get going on a good laugh I can't stop!), but I checked my eyes and everything was just as it should be. I'm really enjoying the smell of the mascara too, icing on the (cup)cake! that's just my experience with it so far though.

I have the gingerbread, and I noticed that now when it has been cooler outside, I have had less smudging. Like I said before, the day I got all the smudging it was really hot and humid outside and I was on the motorcycle.
Hope it works better for you :)

I placed my order roughly a week and a half ago and it arrived today. Everything was in good condition, except for one snarl: When I placed the order, I paid over $60 for shipping, but on the box today it says that shipping was $32.25. Is this some strange UPS thing, or should I be asking for a refund of the difference between my $60+ shipping price and the price on the box?
