Last night I stumbled across some Youtube videos with people who had never seen "Who's on First", they are called reveal videos and the folks reaction was priceless.
Just a really fun play yesterday in the Astro/Cards game. Siri of the Astros nearly gets caught off base by Yadier Molina but gets back safe, then wags his finger at Yadi. Mistake. Two pitches later he tries to steal Second and Molina throws him out by about 10 feet! Don't mess with veterans like that, it will usually bite you.

I played catcher in Little League and had a gun for an arm. The small diamond was no problem. The next level was Babe Ruth with the full 90' bases. When the coach asked how well could I throw to 2nd base the honest reply would have been...,."throw there, hell I can't even see that far!"I played backup catcher in school one year and, agree, those are wonderful feelings. But with my strong yet erratic arm, I was also familiar with that sickening feeling of watching my throw to second sail into the outfield as the runner headed for third.

This was back in the day before 'fair play'.....which meant I sat on the bench a lot. Coach Bellamy was a gruff old pro ball player and I think he took a dislike to me. The only time I remember him "coaching" me was when I sat in the dugout, second game of a double. I had my uni shirt unbuttoned and open (old wool flannels in July). He looked into the dugout and with distain....."Do up your damn shirt and at least look like a ballplayer". I grew a bunch he quit and my next 2 years were fun.....I became starter and my new coach wasn't mean to me!!!I remember that was a huge jump for me as well. We didn't have intermediate level fields or anything so went straight from a Little League field to a full size field. Little League considered me a "13 year old", though I had just turned 12 a few weeks earlier. It was an enormous leap to 90-ft bases and 127 ft, 3 and 3/8 inches from home plate to 2B, nearly twice as far as just a few months prior. That was probably my least favorite year of ever playing baseball, simply because the jump was so overwhelming at that age.
I was a'bulky' kid so it kinda fit. ......and I grew to enjoy the 'tools of ignorance'. I played til I was 50, still catching. Coach asked one day if I was okay with the squatting down....I replied the squatting down was never the issue..it was the getting back up that was a bitch. One of my cousins caught all thru Little League and high school, and ended up springing his knees from all the scootching. Poor man is 54 years old and still can't stand up straight. He didn't want to catch, but nobody else did either, and he always thought he got picked because he "had a face like a catcher." Always felt kinda sorry for the kid.

Chicago Cubs trade 1st Baseman Anthony Rizzo to the New York Yankees.
The Yankees.
Even a Southsider like me is sad to see what the new Cubs' management is doing to your club. Rizzo is a pure class act. Cards fans have always respected him.
