I can't really contribute here. I need a thread like " show me your jacket you paid too much for, didn't fit, and you sold at a loss"
But on my deathbed I'll receive total consciousness so I've got that goin' for me.

Lol, that's the thread I would need as wel, Ton. I mean, even if I sold the Phantom, it still wouldn't cover for all the jackets I overpaid for and then sold at a loss.

I've got a few more. Two Levi's denim jackets. One is straight up Type 3

But this one's cool. It has a nice thick lining and a leather collar. Weights a ton and it is warm. Really looks cool but I don't really know what it is. Anyway...

Both found on the street so 0 moneys spent. :3

^ If we are talking about the "one that got away," for me it ain't a cheap one. To the contrary, I came across an original Buco J-100 that fit me perfectly and was perfectly worn in. It was pricey, but gorgeous. I decided not to be impulsive, and to think about it for a day. I called to buy it the next day, but it was gone. I wish I had been impulsive.

Been there too (several times) :)

My favorite jackets all cost under $60. Calfskin leather jacket $30, Harris Tweed blazer $25, Ralph Lauren corduroy blazer $40, Dikies garage jacket $30. I have found that the more I spend on any item the less I enjoy it. While I can afford to buy high price items, I took the view some years back that this was unnecessary to my happiness.

I'm just now waiting for a 1950's black, Brooks Bros. tropical-weight suit that I bought on Etsy for $80.00. Mint condition, high-rise pants, and the measurements are uncanniiy perfect for me. I can't wait to pair it with my new Milan straw hat. Just recently I got an Agnes B. men's linen jacket, light as a feather, also for $80.00.

How about a companion thread: "A cheap jacket I passed on and didn't buy"?
I did that some years back. I killer black Bison jacket that still steams me every time I look at the pics I took of it.
$80 at the Rose Bowl flea market - likely could have got it for $50.
The Black Bison would not only have looked good, you would have always felt smug because of the price that you had paid, sorry you missed out on it.
Your post jolted an almost forgotten reminisce. I had been looking for a white tux for ages, then, at a vintage event that we go to every year, a stall holder had one in my size. It was a classic beauty and all he wanted was fifty pounds. A white tuxedo is something that you would only wear rarely and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something that would hibernate in my wardrobe for most of it's life. So I passed up on it.
My wife, however, didn't. She sneaked back to the stall and asked the guy if he would take £20 for it, he said: "I need the space and I guess fifty might have been a bit cheeky so go on, it's your's for twenty." I love that jacket, just twenty pounds to get the Bond look. Although it's meant to be worn at a formal occasion, it looks great elsewhere too. I wore it as a pastiche at a burlesque night, where my missus styles the performer's hair in a vintage design. The burlesque shirt that she made went really well with the tux.

Bought this jacket at a thrift store for $25. It's real leather, and it's heavy. My only problem is that I have no idea about the jacket's origin. I've yet to find any information about an "Oxford" leather jacket online, there's just no information available. Does anyone here know anything about it? Quality, age, anything?
