Australian Summer Wear

With temperatures rising here in the Antipodes, I am looking for something 'Golden Era-y' I can wear over a shirt and tie (generally with khaki trousers) which will not cause me to self immolate, any suggestions?
I have unfortunately shrunk out of a linen suit I acquired for this very purpose. I did purchase a 'summer weight' blazer a while back but it is still a tad too hot on the warmer days.
The key things I am looking for are:
Coolness
Style
Price (as I may well shrink out of the damn thing within a month or two)

No help, my friend, but completely sympathizing!
Originally from Oregon, where unseasonably hot weather almost always means a shower is on the way, I rely on cotton fabrics, turning the ac up until the bosses fingers turn blue (she sits closest to the vent and I am farthest away, near the windows and between the faxes and the copy machine) and unfashionably go without hose. Clients can only see me from the waist up, so - vintage correct or not, it's my only save.
Don't suppose stockings are an issue for you, anyway.

Thanks RBH, those links are most useful.

Cookie, I am thinking about buying some more Lands end products, but with the exchange rate and shipping the cost is not so friendly. I am still supremely grateful to you for drawing my attention to their wares.

It really depends where you are, in Hobart you probably need a racoon fur coat in Summer :) , where as in Darwin a cream, short sleeved polo shirt, polka dot cravat, and maybe a sleevless cricket jumper over the top for evenings. I think it could look rather spiffing.

Think of the movie "White Mischief" and dress as the "Happy Valley" smart set in 1940's Kenya did.
