As to why so many Whippets, it's just that this model simply looks perfect on me. So, I wanted to get several colors.

Do you have a photo of you wearing one of those beauties?

If they were 7 1/2's, I'd consider hiring a barbershop quartet to show up at your house and serenade you with a "Please Sell Me One" song, which won't take me long to write. Let's see, what rhymes with "whippet" . . .

Hato; That is a color and model that I truly LOVE! The only one I like better might be the green jewel that Hats Enough out bid me on. My two fav hats of the summer at excellent homes being well taken care of. Congrats! Enjoy wearing the carmel tan Whippet. A hat may not make a man, but it certainly can construct a positive image.

Best, Eric -

Looks like a really good buy for that money. Nice lid! I like the color. I have a similar one, but mine is more camel than light brown or beige.

Stingy vs. Normal Whippet

I would like to share my newest Whippet - Stingy brimmed (1.75") chocolate brown w/brown ribbon and trim. Absolutely a shock that a stingy brim existed until this hat arrived in a flat bubble envelope. Yup a flat envelope! Jeepers what an adventure for me, a rookie hat aficionado. Fortunately the hat is more durable than the mail service from Australia (check out my post on the new hats thread for details).

The hat is truly a great example of the Whippet model. Felt is immaculately clean, well pounced, has dimension to the felt (eye appeal), a richness to the color and a general aire of classy within the genre of smaller brim to my eye. Certainly not of the custom class (ala VS creations (they rule!), but within the tops of the manufactured world to my experience.

The smaller brimmed Whippet has been growing on me. I would have never imagined that the stingier brimmed Whippet would look as good as it does. Stetson got this model in the normal (2.5+") and the stingy proportions correct. Between the ribbon size and the binding size the hat looks correct. Both of us know that this is a very subjective statement. I have checked with my wife and friends requiring their opinions and they have agreed that the hat is styling in proportion. That gets me to the decision if I enjoy seeing myself in a smaller brimmed hat. I will not submit pics yet as the hat is still growing on me. Certainly, not matured yet. More mirror and head time needed.

I have, check below, attached a pic to show the contrast to the other Whippets that I own in the "brownish" shade. To my eyes a chocolate brown stingy, a brown, and a tawny Whippet. The pic hopefully shows the shades of brown, but more importantly contrasts the size difference.

I hope you enjoy the improved pics (camera stand, back lights and reading glasses (discovered that I need glasses – jeepers!, taken in my dressing room against a backdrop of a few framed Stetson ads from the 40"s.), Eric -

Eric you said you recieved it from Australia is the hat made in the US or Australia? Is there any markings to indicate this?
I wear different size brims and just wear them with different flare I like to change up the hat look and not get stuck on one look.
Stingy one day Cap the next wide brim the next my wife never knows what I will wear.:)

Was over on the Shorpy photo site and found this 1938 photo by Ben Shahn which has a two door Whippet in it. Now you Whippet owners need to find one to go with your hats :)

Thanks, BobC and TRick.

I hate to say it, but I paid as much for that ridiculous Whippet box as I did for some of the hats! It has been one of the few I've seen and it had the cardboard hat keeper form inside it, too. I've only seen a few on The Bay since I bought that a few years ago and none in as good a condition as the one I got.
