My husband makes fun of me when I watch Lifetime. I tell him it's no different than his shoot 'em up flicks except for the suburban setting and nice clothes. lol

And the 50 year old men falling in love with their 12 year old step-daughters while the older son is killed during a frat hazing his freshman year of college, and the middle son is physically abusing mom!!

Geez, this woman got through all the psychological evaluations and testing that they do before you get to touch expensive equipment?! Obviously the elevator ain't quite going to the top floor and hasn't for a while. Someone really missed something if "She was scheduled to be a lead commentator on the next shuttle flight, a key role for an astronaut on the ground."
I don't think ambition=nutcase. I just think it was nutcase from the very beginning. :eusa_doh: Is the object of her affection's flat top crooked in that picture? Maybe its just his ears. There's a level headed joke in there somewhere. Obviously her hair isn't really red either.

The real tragedy, besides the fact that she has kids, is that I bet she was a role model for some girls. There are so few positive female role models these days, especially female astronauts.

To think -- she would have all the "right stuff" to get to be one of the very few people in the world who are astronauts, even fewer who are women astronauts -- and then throw it all away for that guy.

As it is she just made a huge fool of herself, I think most people have done that, maybe just not to the extent that she did. And... in diapers.

According to a couple of people I know who work over at NASA, severe depression is not uncommon among astronauts. Going into space is a real emotional roller-coaster with months of attention and build-up, the emotional and adrenal high of going up and being up, the return, and then you are done until they need you again. Boom. Recognition that this can be a problem has been slow in coming.
