It is pretty generic as jlee says above. As to the type or model someone else might link it to a brand, all I managed to do was find its twitter account. Good luck...maybe the Lounge will get you interested in other vintage hats?

Looks like a pretty unremarkable wool hat.

This was my "haven't finished my coffee yet" answer.

The shrinkage/distortion and welted brim are pretty sure giveaways of a modern wool felt hat. There are many hats like this from various manufacturers, so without seeing the inside of the hat, it's really impossible to say.

Give it another year and it won’t even be recognizable as a hat. It’s already an odd misshapen lump of felt. I think your pre-coffee answer was on the nose.

The first one may be "Self Conforming" with the patent number, etc.

What type of clear vinyl material does Akubra use to line the top of their lined hats? I’m looking for a relatively technical description/ trademarked name. I’m thinking of buying it in sheets and would like to use it to line the underside of my leather sweat bands to prevent perspiration from soaking through. Seems like this material has the perfect blend of flexibility and moisture impermeability.

I tried some searches, but couldn't pull up an answer to my hat issue. I have a Stetson Gun Club that is flaking inside the band. Love the hat and I've had it for years, but I'm not thrilled about having little bits of the band sticking to my head when I take it off. Here's a picture of the worst of it, but it's happening all around the band. Anything I can do to stabilize this?

I’ve had that happed to a couple of my Stetsons. There was a period when they used those horrible sweatbands: comfortable until they started to deteriorate and left flakes on my forehead and in my hair. I just had them replaced rather than attempting to fix them. Good luck.

You can buy top quality leather sweats on Etsy.com for $20 and sewing them in yourself is very doable.

Oh, you haven't seen me try to sew! It's an exercise in frustration and futility. But I will look around to see if there are any hat repair people in my town.

I would probably know this if I had been paying attention, but I would have forgotten anyway. Can a 6-3/4 western (not real think felt and not overly stiff) be re-blocked to 7-1/2? The brim is currently 3-1/2". Thinking of a cowboy to fedora conversion.

I upsized from a 7 1/8 to 7 5/8 but it was a floppy wide brimmed Borsalino and really easy to work with.

Terry @T Jones took a 6 5/8 western to 7 1/4. I’ve taken a couple of 6 7/8 or even 6 3/4 wide brim black Borsalinos up to 7 3/4 without any issue, other than brim width loss. I was shocked at how easily those Borsalinos slipped over a 7 3/4 block.

Ask Terry, but I suspect that sizing it up in stages would be the best way to go.

Thanks Bob and Brent. I have a stretcher I could size down to it's smallest, but not sure what the gap would do as I increased it. I do have a 7-3/8 optimo block and a 7-3/8 #52 (6") block laying around.
