I understand. I was trying to take a "selfie" which was very unnatural looking. I usually do cock the hat. I will remove the feather which, on the hat looks pretty good, but on the head looks pretty lame. As for the glasses, well...that'll have to wait. But, I see your point. Thanks for the recommendations.
I just placed my hat on my head. To me, cocking your hat to one side looks like you're trying to re-enact something you saw in a movie.

But even some movie directors don't make their actors cock their hats.

Just a note to register myself as another "straight up" hat wearer. Very very seldom do I cock it and yes like Sinatra says angles are attitudes and it is seldom I wish to adopt an attitude. Yes, hats are like other articles of clothing and we all wear them differently. God forbid there should be more rules.

thanks guys- I actually want to make new newsboy's..can anyone suggest a supplier for this type of vegetable tanned leather ? Obviously leather wont be cheap wherever you look but I was hoping for a recommended supplier. Also, in the market for a singer cylinder head to do the zig zag stitches on the leather sweatband..though again, I don't yet know which vintage singer cylinder head machine is the most desirable model as there are so many different ones out there.

Here are some pictures of the new stetson.
You are looking good wearing your Fedora hats. As time comes and goes, you will learn so much about hats and some of your desires on what hats to own can evolve as well. For the most part you are entering the "hat bug bite" zone....the warning is....you will always want another holy grail hat...even more so when you do find it (money at that point will not be so much a factor) but then you will notice your wallet....if you buy too many hats too often and do not find a good deal on them...your wallet will let you know. Then where do all your hats stay? Like small children grow in size, and you need bigger accommodations, hats are the same. You'll find out those closet spaces are not as big as you once thought.... BUT then you will also notice....

Your attire may start looking like you need to improve it...you know to color match your hat squadron....shoes and socks, sun glasses, watches, ties, sports coats and suits. You'll have grays, silvers, blues, browns, greens, Ivory.....and maybe even a pair or two of pink , purple, red!

Take the time now to look around your home....take a picture or two....for the old memory. It is already too late now to turn back...you have found out how to order hats....hooked...bitten, you have the hat bug now. Welcome to the gang!

I enjoy a variety of straw hats, including both panamas and boaters. Things to note:

- a true boater can be fragile, and they also attract more attention from drunk girls who think it's fancy dress and want to try it on.... Be careful where you wear it.

- Any real straw hat can be adversely affected by hard rain; I find a poly straw a great compromise for this reason

- Sometimes, you just can't beat a linen cap...

As to specific hats, I'd suggest having a look at the Akubra Capricorn - day to day a fine look with 30s/40s clothing styles, and the polystraw makes it cheap, affordable and durable. I have several and have worn them hard many Summers as well as while abroad (mostly in China) - great stuff.

If you're keen on furfelt year round, try a Safari style. I have an Akubra Riverina which I reshaped with a narrower pinch and gave my own, hand-would pugaree. It has eyelets to let out the heat - works very well in extremes of Summer weather, both heat and tropical rain.

My hat's straight. It's my head that's crooked.

Sent directly from my mind to yours.
I know, right? LOL. My neck is crooked, angled off to the side at a diagonal; result from a wine bibber falling asleep at the wheel at plowing into me and Dad during Thanksgiving weekend, 1976.
