Hope i'm in the right place using the correct protocol:
Question: I have a Biltmore straw fedora bleached white.
I'm thinking of dyeing the brim of this hat.
What would be the best approach - bye the way, i'd like to do this myself.
DON'T USE LIQUID DYE! Any liquid dye will almost certainly run or come off, especially in the rain. Even if someone guarantees it won't come off I bet it will. I'm a leather expert and I know what I'm talking about. Anything you can use on a stray hat is going to be made for leather. Go to a shoe repair shop and ask them to order a can of spray dye for you. There's a good chance you can find it on the internet too--like Amazon. Spray dye works just like spray paint, but is more flexible when it's dry. Give it a light spray, then let it dry. You might find that it hasn't gotten down into some of the small spaces so, depending on the color you're using, you can use a permanent marker, and I mean permanent, to fill in those spots. I say depending on the color because you might not find a marker the exact color of the spray dye, but you should be able to come very close. Edding board markers are good, but you want something that will write on glass or freezer bags--something that won't run when wet. Go to an art supply store and ask them. You can also spray some of the dye into a container and with a very fine paint brush fill in the spaces that way. Then give it another coat of spray, and it should look fine. Considering the fact that you're hat will always remain somewhat rigid, this should work very well. Good luck.

WHAT DID I JUST GET?

...it's a BAILEY from their "BREED" line and ID'ed as a 100% "fur blend" by which I hope I can safely presume there is no wool used.
Does anyone know? I have found Baileys current "Breed" offerings but this is not one of those.
Any ideas fellas?

Hello all, Here somewhere within the deepest, darkest confines of the Fedora Lounge lurks a vintage picture of a fellow wearing a fedora, a leather jacket, and knee length engineer boots. The Gentleman is kneeling down and gazing at a distant something or other. I know the pic is here somewhere, but, after an hour of searching to no avail, I've decided to ask for a little help from my friends. Anyone know where it is or even which one I am talking about?
Other than the kneeling down part, that sounds like something Michael A might have worn in the last year.

Haha it does, doesn't it!? It might help if we knew if it's a picture of a member or a vintage photo. If it was posted a long time ago, it may also have been deleted / the link may have stopped working by now.

I'm embarking on my first vintage hat restoration project. I've stripped the hat of its lining, ribbon and sweatband and brushed the felt clean. The hat looks pretty clean now (boy there was a lot of dust) but it has a 'funny' smell. It just smells old and dusty. What can I use to clean/wash the dust out of the hat without causing any damage to the felt?

Hi, I wanted to get a replacment hat
Band for my fedora. Is $45 dollars the general cost to have this done?
I wanted a dark gray ribbon with a bow thats 39mm wide.
Couldn't you just buy the ribbon and make it yourself? If you take it apart carefully it really is easy to do. You don't even have to use a sewing machine. I've made many of them putting them together with high-quality two-sided tape--the white stuff from the hardware store, not the clear cheep stuff, or glue. It sure would be cheaper than having one made. But then I tend to be a cheapskate!

Yip, not a beret at all - as has been said, an eight panel cap - also known as a 'newsboy cap' or sometimes a 'gatsby cap'. Not a difficult style of hat to find. If you want to invest in a really nice one, there are a lot of cap-makers around. I personally own examples from Cordova Caps, and Barry Simmonds (not the same organisation as Simmonds-Bilt). Another great option for these is Hepville - you'll find him on Etsy; Bela does beautiful work, and I have examples of his caps in linen and tweed.

There's Sombreria Mil on the Carrer de Fontanella, they have been around forever: http://www.sombrereriamil.com/

I am sure @Kuki will be able to help you more, she lives in Barcelona.
@Frank Minza
There are two traditional and reputable shops in Barcelona:
Sombrerería Mil like Celia mentioned, and Sombrerería Obach in Carrer del Call.
They're nicer and have a better assortment at Mil. The owner is a lady called Nuria Arnau, you can let her know I sent you there if you want (my name is Cristina de Prada). I don't sell my hats there but she always participates in our "Stroll with a Hat" event and we're acquainted.
Other hat shops have cropped up in recent timed but these two are the traditional ones that have been there for more than a century.
